It doesn't hurt to try mobbing. If you're a glaiver, then you should try his idea for at least a few hours.
It takes a little practice and getting used to to efficiently mob.
I am a s/s nuker and i make sure a 3-hitter nuke hits 3. Right now at 53 (with 8gap), I hit 3 penon fighters with 1 nuke. I fire the 2nd nuke to the penon that got the least dmg. Lastly I hit the penon that got the mid damage during the 1st nuke with the 3-hit KD (or whoever is left standing). Right now I can't kill penons in a single nuke. So you think mobbing, 3 skills to 3 penons is "a waste of effort" vs. 1 nuke + 1 weapon skill just for one penon?
I just started to grind my brother's glaiver over the weekend and it was not until a few hours that I started to get the hang of a STR-based glaiver's mobbing. There was a definite lack of ranged skill as he still has only 1 flying dragon. So I have to make do with a short sprint + a phantom to compensate for the flying dragon still cooling down. I guess this bow thing does still work at higher levels.
Mobbing needs positioning your character against the mobs, anticipating their moves, and quick selection of the next target in the mob. You should pick another target in the mob for each skill. I don't of course assume this simple switch-targeting and positioning is within anyone's capacity. Especially for those who didn't give an effort to try yet quickly concluding "a waste of effort" with no basis at all.
