I got a job at McDonald's recently, my job is to work the left of the store, this is where the fry cooker is stationed. It was a busy day and we had a lot of orders backed up, I was working really fast even though I was still new. So there I was cleaning the floor, I heard a high pitched beep indicating that the fries were done cooking, I ran to the cook but slipped on the wet floor. I reached out with hands grabbing anything I could, unluckily I grabbed the handle of the cage where the fries are held while frying. As I fell, the oil split all over my crotch burning my penis straight off. The next day in hospital my girlfriend visited me, she looked me dead in the eyes and said
"You gave me burning in my crotch, now you have burnt your crotch, it's over."
Then she just left.

Since he couldn't walk or speak, I think it's safe to say that I beat your challenge. BTW what do I win?

The feat wasn't getting hit by a car. It was the man's sense of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage that he possessed by serving his country in the Army. It takes a special kind of person to be able to put him/herself out there to potentially die for their country fighting for the freedoms that everyone else gets to enjoy while sitting back at home in your comfy couch or chair playing your little video games.

I couldn't agree more with Tasdik. Well said, and interesting story. Let's all get out there and actually DO something with our lives.

Thousands of people fight for their country, but this wasn't the case... Unless I misread, yes, he was a soldier, but he wasn't in war, he was just called to go there, and unfortunately he got hit by a car and died... But he didn't even have a choice, he didn't do it to save anyone... Unless I'm missing something..?

Well I still think it's honorable to serve your country in the military, even during peace time. There's always the chance that the country could go to war, and you would have to be deployed in it.

Besides, the story was just an example. I think the main point of the post was advice to actually go out in the world and do something meaningful instead of just wasting your time away in a game or forums all day.

The guy 'motivating' us to go out there has more posts than most of the people who replied in this thread. Ironic, no?
Do as I say, not as I do! What gave him such an insight into our daily lives to say that we're apparently not active enough?
To be completely honest I think it's a douchebag message and it has an even worse story to convey it.

Sadly as honorable as it sounds the fact of the matter is, dying for your country does nothing and wars are not won by dying. There was a saying along these lines, but I forgot it.

i thought the story was about the loyalty shown by the old woman to her boyfriend...i think that woulda been a much better suited "message" for this story...

Anyways, epic thread ;P
