It's not like you'll be able to see a difference between 72 and 100 anyways.

In regular shooting, no. But in HnS, kreedz and such you will.

Try writng fps_max 101 in console.

If you have installed any windows updates, do a systemreset or how I should call it.

I had the same exact problem and a system reset solved it.

lol your fps could be 29999 and you couldnt utilize that, the human eye cant tell a difference beyond 60 fps.

Actually average people cant really tell the difference in above 30FPS. Some can tell up to 60 but not that many, need a well trained eye. And if you want to use your hardware to the max, play a better game. Now for the fanboys to bitch.

Most people know counter strike as a bunch of nolifer fun map playing surfer, hackers etc permanoobs. But bitches dont know bout my esl. Players who get ladyez and actually play the game the way it is meant to be played. Also, rewards from winning a pro cs tourdament are higher than all e-sport games.

Trolls = persons who taunt/aggro irl, to see people argue over a ridiculous thing. The statement that cs:source is for pros and cs 1.6 is for noobs, is exactly opposite to the truth, and thus making it obvious that the poster is a troll.

Human eye can notice difference between 30 and 60 fps easily. Test it for yourself: put your screen on 30hz refresh rate and then to 60hz refresh rate.
Also games, movies and real life are totally different in the fps section. Real life and movies have motion blur(move your hand in front of your face right to left, see the blur?), games do not have this thus they need higher fps, else it stutters. You can't play a blurry game (imagine everything being blurred when you make a quick 180) so there is no motion blur, to make up for this convenient real life feature there's the need for more fps! :)

75 fps is close to everyone's top, to keep the screen 100% fluid there should be a decent margin to make room for fps drops during explosions and the likes. 100 FPS total should be sufficient to play a game without ANY chance of an fps lagg, given that the maximum fps drop can not exceed 25.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I have a strange interest for fps and it's role in games/real life/movies.

Saw a docu saying normally human eye is 70-80, and resulting from hours of practice, professional FPS gamers usually are able to tell the difference in the 100-110 range. In either case, 100FPS is the sweet spot for FPS targets. Especially because when slowdowns hit, you would be in the 70s range.

Yeah one can defenitely easily see the difference between 30 and 60 fps. Also from what I know, dom's statement is correct.
60-70 is the max what a human eye can follow.

If you have the oldschool shooter ET, type in console /com_maxfps 43 (generally used by trickjumpers who are focused on moving their mouse slowly and thus noticing it really well) and then play with that then change it to 75 after 1 hour. You will see a huge difference immediately.

Done tjing for years in ET and I still use 43.

92 fps haha. Funny how the hell does one test it beyond obvious difference? In that case I can see up to 132!!! I'll just add one extra fps after another and say oh ok this ist he max i can see the difference between!

Nice, you call him a tard and res an old thread.

And killing in 1.6 is only harder if you can't aim. If you have good aim, you use the same technique in both games and added or reduced recoil is negligent.

Anyone who argues otherwise just proves they suck at cs/css.

Well i bet some of you guys don't play CS how it ment to play (no kz, Zombie mod, pubs ect.)
it should be played 5 vs 5 (not 16vs16 like in pubs OO) and best way to see profesional gaming is e-Sports. There are so many C,S, leagues (ESL,ESL 4 ladies, Xtreeme Masters ect.) which is being played by pro's
here a screenie how much $ pro gets for winning championship
Image

And btw CS:S sucks ass with a straw i can tell why:
No ducking
bad physics
some spam spots is closed (oh noez)
Btw it cost much more than 1.6 furthermore 1.6 has more players in it :P
flame shield ON

Yeah I've been playing de_dust2 in my clan's server, I used to get some really bad scores but with the time I've learned where to stand and also my aim has improved a lot. But I still look up to the guys that go Rampage/anything over that :P
