how? why are some people so very smart and shit? what are they doing differently than from most of us? i mean shit im jealous of this kid at my school that parties all the time, never opens the book, make A's as easy as breathing, very creative, and an excellent problem solver than that solve everything thrown at him while everyones going wtf. probabaly genetics have something to do with it, but if it does it must play a very small role. i just refuse to see how it can play a huge role, right? . but does anyone know with certainty or have friends with someone like uber smart and know what they are doing differently?

oh btw, speaking of that, do we have any geniuses like that on SRF? imo, i doubt a genius would play SRO. probabably if such person exist, hed probably play the game, do some spectacular no one done before, then quit the game and move on to some other shit since i doubt theyd enjoy grinding this game, but just my guest, but anyways back on topic... how is the environment of geniuses different from us? are they secretly doing puzzles or know something that they are hiding form us? discuss

You do not become intelligent overnight. It's something that you have to work on. Intelligence is not something you are born with. There are many factors that affect intelligence and one of them which is at the top of the list is the environment in which you are in.

By the way, I wouldn't say that intelligence is related to genetics. Just because there is a strong positive correlation between parents being smart and their children being smart that doesn't mean that it's related to their genes. Correlation does not prove causation. Furthermore, there could be a third factor which isn't being considered, such as diet, economic class and other lifestyle variables. Although I could go on and on about why genetics isn't related to intelligence, I think I will stop here.

People learn different ways. If what you've been doing hasn't been working, you should try a different method of learning.

I.E. :
-Some people have great memory and they can memory a history textbook in a month, but they're not able to interpret physics.
-Some people can see the answer to a math problem and the road to get there, just by glancing at the problem, but they have horrible memory and can't remember anything they learned in history class (that's me).
-etc, etc

Find a way that works for you and then studying won't be such a big problem. Granted, there are some subjects that you can't get around except for just pure memorizing, and even that, to some extent, can be trained.

no one in my family is really that smart sept for me O.o non of them can solve problems in seconds or have a teacher allow you to not pay attention in class because you ace all the tests (yes its fun i has nap time) i think its a hit or miss really

I think it all has to do with how you're raised and your own motivation. I'm like that kid, I smoke weed all day everyday and get straight A's as well. I have no idea how I do it but whatever it works out good for me.

I think it has to do with HOW they learn, and what they can understand. Some people memorize, but others actually understand the concepts behind the actions and can understand and apply those concepts for they can see them in their everyday life, so they remember them, and thus can remember what others had to merely memorize.
I think it very much has to do with understanding concepts and applying them to your life and recognizing them, some things just make sense, but others seem to not, but other people it's like their second nature.

I used to be able to understand concepts easily, but lately I've become a dumbass.

I think if you want to be smart, try reading (sounds stupid, but it improves vocabulary, makes you think, lets you understand other people's way of thinking, allows you to see parallels between the book and real life, and many other things)

What I think is THE most important part to being smart though, is only engage in activities that require thought, or don't engage in activities at all.
Listening to music has GOT to be the biggest detriment to human intelligence, to me at least, for when I do it, I just get enveloped in the song and cannot use my brain.

Doing nothing and just thinking about life is the way I think you can become smart, for doing nothing and letting your mind wander will let it run into problems of life, different concepts, other's thoughts and such.

So in conclusion, I'd say the person's hobbies and habits, or lack thereof are the biggest qualifiers for intelligence.

P.S. Video games (not sro or other mmorpgs) are very intellectually stimulating.

Well, it's probably more beneficial than a silent room. I personally need some kind of background noise; too much silence bores me.

It also depends on how good of a teacher the teacher is. Some just give you the material and let you figure it out. Others, explain the concepts for you. Grasping those concepts is definitely more beneficial then beating your head with the textbook.

The most intellegent person i know is my brother. His English teacher made a joke when he was in school, that he should join Mensa. He didnt take it as a joke and got an interview to join... He failed the IQ test by just 2 points.
