Seriously, if you call THAT American Muscle, you need to re think. Thats really far from American Muscle, shit more of the little 5'2" women drive those than anything.

Hahahaha I love cocky idiots like you, they put a smile to my face.

You saying tranny or suspension going out like its no big deal.. Last time I checked those are major break downs. Jetta over a Mustang? I'm sorry, but every guy (straight guys for this matter, not like you) knows when you see a Jetta, usually a hot girl is expected.

Who the hell needs a monsterous built V8 monster for a daily driver? When the hell do you need all that power for driving to school or to work? Oh wait, you don't. Unless you go to the drag strip every weekend, it is a big waste of power and money because you'll get a good 10 mpg.

I can smoke any jetta stock or minor mods like mine any day of the year, and look better doing it.

Why try and act like a car expert when your simply not, everything you know has been taken off wiki. I agree with sharp on that, the car is simply not muscle. Its like taking the engine from a Taurus and throwing it in a camaro.
I second what sharp said, i'd rather drive the topicstarters jetta than that mustang. Also, germans make great and reliable high quality cars and have for years. Go outside, pull your engine apart and rebuild and then you might learn something about cars. kay?

Did I claim I was an expert? Did I claim my car was american muscle at its finest? No.

I stated my opinion on the research I have done, and from the personal experiences from others. It isn't like I magically pulled those facts straight out of my ass, they are in fact true. So instead of trying to flame other people's cars, go and show me this "reliable" German car that doesn't need every single part replaced. I didn't flame the OP's car, or any members car and you shouldn't either.

BTW, what the hell do you drive?

TC ford cortina, with the 4.1 litre 6 cyclinder. Can't legally modify the engine here due to my license restrictions.

My car is a 4.0L V6.

Your car is a 4.1L V6.

You basically just dissed you own car, and you yourself drive a Ford?

my car is a small car and was originally produced with a 1.3L - 2L in Europe.
not like my car was designed as a muscle car with a v8 like yours was.

my friend, i'm not driving around a 6 cyclinder falcon. IF i could legally drive a v8, i'd have a v8 falcon, but i can't and legally you can. Also, the cortina isn't a muscle car.

Sure I can legally, but I can't financially. Sure the cortina isn't a muscle car, but it has the engine of one, therfor an attempt to make it a muscle car. Plus it has the attributes of an muscle car, good in a straight line but bust in corners.

if it was an attempt of a muscle car, i'd have a 351 in it. If Ford intended it to be a muscle car they would have made it a coupe and thrown v8 in it compete with the torana. The car doesn't handle like something big like a XW falcon or a Mustang. Its smaller and it handles alot better bar the lack of power steering.

It's an attempt but a failed attempt. I haven't personally seen or known anyone with that car, but from what I have read the handling was just rubbish. Plus, its an old car, a '77 I presume.. older cars aren't really famous for being top notch in corners. How heavy is it with that straight 6 engine? and the BHP/torque?

don't believe all top gear says. sure, it's an amazing show and very
entertaining, but they always give me the feeling that anything other
than the aston martins are "rubbish". and they compared a couple of
convertibles some time ago (i think it was the nissan 350Z vs. the
crysler crossfire vs. some others), and the american one was the one
they called rubbish ;]

Too true.. i love Top Gear (well not so much anymore but still) its a great show. But when anyone uses an opinion from Top Gear to back up there own opinion.. it just makes them look retarded. Top Gear is entertainment.. and thats it.

When i passed my test my mum bought me a TOYOTA COROLLA 1.4 16v but recently with my sister gone to university we traded cars, so i got her 2007 honda civic 2.0 type R vtec, its awesome becuase where i live most boyracers are driving 1.1 - 1.4L cars so its fun to play around with them.

the only good races i get is from the Impreza's that cruise around.

Pretty nice car you have there. The rims look pretty sweet as well and the Red brembo brake kit would look great on them.

All you need is a coilover kit and maybe tints. Those other stuff are really unnecessary

Well for me, my car was only $15k brand new, $5-7k off (I got lucky). My parents paid for all of it but I paid them on the monthly payments. I paid for a good amount, but not all.

When i first bought my car. I already had a job working Logistics/Transhipment for a firm stationed in Amsterdam. That paid pretty good, also having to work for my father once in a while also paid off quite good. If you work 2 jobs including overtime, and try to save about 70% of what you earn, over a duration of a year or so, things tend to go pretty fast. I almost had $130.000 when i bought my car. And i got a pretty hefty discount because one of our clients had family working in the car industry. And once in a while you tend to help each other out,we helped him out with missing cargo once,he helped me out by arranging a discount. :)

Cost of car new: € 117.800. After discount: € 70.599. You don't need a Harvard Degree to understand that it was a sweet deal.

So i happily accepted it.

You helped him out with missing cargo? Assuming it was you who was doing the shipment? Shouldn't that be your job anyway?

Still haven't had a first car :( Was in Washington DC, and didn't need a car. Then moved back to the UK and I don't have the money to do it. I'm officially independent from my parents now, so asking them for help is out of the question.

Ah well, when I can afford one, I can afford one, if I can't then it's not the end of the world, its one less thing to worry about at the end of the day :)

Congrats RuYi! ^-^ It must be easy for you to find a parking spot! I am always worried about finding a good place to park. And if i find one i mostly tend to worry about people nicking into me. I would even prefer a short walk to the City if it meant parking it somewhere spacy.

Err...

There were more people aside from me working there at that time, to this day we still don't know who was responsible, and back then time was pressing enough as it was. So i took on extra work in order to hopefully find a way that he could still get his cargo shipped in the shortest time frame. I just happened to offer a reasonable solution to what could have become a big problem. I offered to change his original shipping plans to something more appropriate for his given situation.

He accepted due to time restrictions,we shipped it, few weeks later we got confirmation that the cargo was delivered.

Everyone went home a winner.

Rofl at RuYi's post. That's sad but true though.
