They could just have a serverside MD5 Checksum and if it isnt the right size it will boot you off the server
They don't even need to modify the SRO client to make a bot. You just need to read and write to the data stream between the client and server. In effect, you run a parallel client... and if I'm not mistaken, you can read/write to the memory SRO_Client uses to gather some other info or perform certain actions. If I had continued down a more pure programming path and not diverted to become a database programmer, I'd probably even know how to do this crap. I just know how they do it, if not exactly the specifics of how to do it.
All this is a buncha BS tho... they can do so many things to solve the problem and they just don't even try. I mean these people aren't idiots. They aren't scratching their heads wondering how all these bots are getting away with it. It's obvious that they do not want to put forth any effort because they aren't.
BTW, I've also considered that idea of flagging bots hitting bot points back when I actually thought JMax was looking for a solution. It's a good plan. Too bad they aren't interested.
The players have a solution... bot traps. <3
