Music composing software

Post by marijnz0r »

Hey guys,

I'm looking for software to compose music.
Little beats like this guy makes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjP0Ln4coRA#t=8m18s
I heard of Fruityloops but I want to know your experiences with different software.

Thanks

I liked Propellerhead Reason a lot. Didn't really work with anything else, because I was really satisfied with Reason.

Back then when I produced some beats I used Reason too, how ever it's slightly more advanced than FL Studio and got a steeper learning curve, atleast how I experienced it.

If you're just looking to paste together loops, there are lots of programs and you should download demos to see what features you like, etc.

If you want to make the loops that other people paste together, you use Reason. Reason is the standard for making digital music, like Photoshop is for image manipulation. Also like PS, its a bitch to learn.

Ableton.

It's what the professional producers use. It's so hard to learn, and I'm actually in the process of learning it myself.

For just cutting together samples cubase is the way to go imo.

For sample sequencing and looping, I've played around with Ableton, Acid and FruityLoops along with some freeware programs and they've all got their good and bad but nothing I felt was great. I'll hafta follow up your recommendation and give Cubase a try.

Fruity loops or Reason is your best bet, if you want to get more into it, protools is your next level up

I recommend Fruity loops for beginners, because it got a nice interface and its relatively easier to learn when compared to reason and protools
