Hate to burst your bubble, but you're an idiot:

Name and New York City connection

Gotham is known to be architecturally modeled after New York City, but with exaggerated elements of the styles of the city; before Detective Comics #48, Batman's adventures were said to happen in New York City. Gotham City derives its name from a sobriquet for New York City which was first popularized by the author Washington Irving in his satirical work Salmagundi (1807). Irving adopted the name from the story of the Wise Men of Gotham, in which the inhabitants of the town of Gotham (in Nottinghamshire, England) behave like madmen.

You shouldn't be so quick to try to point out mistakes. There's a reason why I wrote New York, and not Gotham. Think about it, in the context of the argument I pushed.

Ummmm you just quoted wikipedia...so that any credibility for that argument
gone right away, next time use something more credible ok...i didnt think

Best
Ultimatum Maaaaaaatt Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaymon (team america voice)
Pan's Labyrinth wonderful film, just plain wonderful
Superbad Thought it was gonna be awful, but some of the best teen-cringe-comedy since Road Trip and AP I... McLovin.
Die Hard 4 The best action movie series ever. Fact.
Departed not as good as it was hyped, but it was good. Standout performance from Wahlberg
Pirates 3 coulda been better, but Johnny saves it
Hot Fuzz of course.
Rush Hour 3 tucker and chan will never get old
Theres a film i cant remember the name of, British film about akid that hooks up with skinhead culture, has a lot of fun, but then things get nasty. Will edit when the name comes to me
300, imax ftw.

Nothing massively stood out for me in 07 like they did in 06, but these were my favourite viewings. Below however, are the wastes of freaking money, unlisted are the ok films, these below are just plain shite.

Worst
Shoot 'em Up - oh clive, clive clive clive, why? why would you make such a bad film?
Beowulf - let down much?
Potter 5- But Emma Watson is still hawt.
Smokin' Aces - Really Really Really Really Really Really Really Really Bad.
My stories + songs

real and while it may of been originally based on 1930's New York, its
in fact a fictional city.
and how am i proving am an idiot? your the one using a source from wikipedia
and acting like its 100%....looks like those people who say your a stupid

*sigh* here comes the drawing since you don't have the capacity to understand anything

1) The thread is made.

2) Someone brings up that 300 is historically inaccurate.

3) I post the following, showing a picture of one of the monsters to remind that the movie is not based on historical fact, but a fictional graphic novel inspired by the battle. Also, an attempt at baiting Valkasdar to ccorrect me on "and elephants and rhinos in Greece? bought in by desert people??? " proving again, that he can't read and doesn't realize that we don't care about his history lesson:
Valkasdar wrote:
Jstar1 wrote:as for 300 haters, I thought it sucked because of no historical accuracy, but its really made for the action and action only, and the iconic scene when leonidas kicks the persian into the well. there isn't supposed to be a plot when all there is are 300 buffy men fighting persians

Yep I hate it coz of this messup history in there, but if it was only for the action and special effects... the movie is awesome

+1

Why would they even try to make a historical movie if it isn't accurate at all?

This guy looks SOOO FAKE, I bet monsters like this DIDN'T EVEN EXIST

Image

and elephants and rhinos in Greece? bought in by desert people??? WTFFFFFFFFFF

4) I lol at Valksadars point, highlighting my stance on the issue again. It shows that I clearly believe that the movie is based on the graphic novel, as explained in the movie's trailers.
Valkasdar wrote:
Actually, they dont come from the desert, yes nowadays there is a desert, but back in the years when this is happend there was just a normal place were ppl lives (lol) nvm this.
About the elephants... well in the movie they look like some kind copy&pastetd from LOTR :D but actually in the Myth about this story, it say s that there actually is like 500-600 ppl on elephants... and most of the other were with horses.
And they actually defend sparta from the persians invasion, and they actually was 300 ppl. But the thing is, the milions of persians WIN at the end, kill every spartain and going pass tru this passage. But they were so few at the end. And the other tribes and ppls from the north (nowadays Bulgaria and some of the north Greece) finish and stoped the invasion of the Persians.

This is what the actual history book says about this :D

lol.

5) After seeing you, among others, trying to beat this into his head I post "Batman = historically inaccurate account of New York." The reason behind this simple, Batman is as historically accurate as 300 is accurate about the battle of thermopylae.

6) Because you're an idiot and can't read, and are anxious to jump on anything to try to disprove me, you post:

satman83 wrote:
dom wrote:Batman = historically inaccurate account of New York.

ummm...sorry to burst your bubble but its set in Gotham city

7) I post my wikipedia antichrist bit of information, I should highlight this part for you: "Gotham is known to be architecturally modeled after New York City, but with exaggerated elements of the styles of the city"

Bold for double emphasis.

Of course, here you go again, like an idiot:

satman83 wrote:its Gotham not New York
you dumb twat, so what if its based on 1930's new york...doesnt make it
new york you Farking moron.

I reply with:

dom wrote:You shouldn't be so quick to try to point out mistakes. There's a reason why I wrote New York, and not Gotham. Think about it, in the context of the argument I pushed.

Bold for emphasis, do I have to be explicit about that part too? I guess I should. I SAID TO REREAD THE THREAD AND REALIZE I'M NOT SAYING THAT GOTHAM IS NEW YORK, did caps help?

To recap: I'm not saying gotham city exists. I'm saying that gotham city is to new york city what 300 is to the battle of thermopylae, which is a movie based on a graphic novel with exaggerated elements of the styles of the battle of thermopylae.

Do I have to break out the photoshop and litterally draw it for you?

You are angry and arguing about something that you didn't even take the time to understand. By writing:

satman83 wrote:its Gotham not New York
you dumb twat, so what if its based on 1930's new york...doesnt make it
new york you Farking moron.

it shows that you're an idiot (as i've explained many times before, in many other threads)

Try google. It's common knowledge. I found it in the Batman Encyclopedia, and on various comic book fan sites - cross checking wikipedia. Not to mention, wikipedia is as accurate as encyclopedia britannica, according to studies ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4530930.stm - is BBC a credible source?)

dude I'm surprised you didn't catch Dom's [Professor sarcasm's] analogy earlier and to make things worst now you are trying to argue simply because the credibility of Wikipedia is questionable. Sat dude do you not realize Google is having a love affair with Wikipedia  seriously its like every search on google related to the sciences now a days leads to a wiki :x .

I just remembered about Smokin' Aces. I watched it over the days I didn't have internet/cable/telephone - even though it was action, it undoubtedly had an artistic direction to it.

I liked superbad too, I know it was stupid (it's the kind of stupid you're not supposed to take serious) but it wasn't overdoing it like epic movie.

Spiderman 3 was disappointing but i blame the writers....i think Topher did a good job but after Alfred Molina as Doc. Oc no super villian even venom could compete with that...

I watched superbad with friends, I think if the first time I would of watched it alone, I would of not enjoyed it at all. It's like mario party I guess, it's not fun unless you do it with lots of people.

For all the I am Legend haters:

it's a very good movie, but people simply expected TOO MUCH, and therefor many find it suck.

i bet if there wasn't such a big publicity about this movie, almost all people would find the movie good.

but yeah, Will Smith is the best actor alive. i focking ALMOST got tears in my eyes when that dog died :(
