Well reise, it can be. I know your very laid back, care free kind of guy. You have no attachment to sro or its people, and thats cool. I respect it. But me? I use to like srf a lot. It was fun coming here and posting in GD way back when it wasnt full of the crap it is now. I wrote a guide to help people, i enjoyed helping a little nub in GD with their wolf, or gave them some information cuz it made them so i . Now, everywhere i go its Avalon throwing thier complete and utter shit around. They prance this forum like they are gods among men, and they own it. Its farking disgusting, and not something to be proud of. I dont give a rats ass about what they did on their server, it effects me ZERO, what does effect me is the fact that they are complete and total assholes on these forums, and i have to empty my inbox from these assholes.
Back to the botter issue... just because someone bots doesnt exempt them from experiencing anything, by getting rid of all the botters, the community is being destroyed. 1 mod down (yes, i did it) another going down. And guess what, it doesnt stop there. More and more well respected members are going. The people you use to be able to kick back with and laugh about something in the OTL, or go to for advice in GD, now their sigs are filled with some lame ban and our faces are filled with .

Well my friend I think you and a few others could stand to cut some ties. If you're going to be so effected by these little squabbles on this forum then I'm afraid you're in for a lot more hard times down the road. Letting this kind of petty crap get to you is no good, and believe me it's definitely petty. I've been to forums where I've known and chatted with a person for years, only to hear about a news article writing that he shot himself in the head on a beach. Of course I was sad because of it, but I didn't make any sort of big deal about it. Life goes on dude, this stuff is nothing. The community is still very much alive. Like someone said they've only banned a handful of people, and most of them came forward themselves.

I disagree. THe community will be better for it in the long run. The people who botted and got caught serve as an example that botting is bad and there is a consequence, even if you are liked and all carebear. JM might not have one for you, but the community does. Botters are NOT welcome in the community, so if you want to be a part, dont bot. Easy, huh?

What seperates a botter from a legit? the bot. There is still a living breathing person. What separates a black man from a white man? His skin, but both are living breathing, feeling things. Do they not deserve the same respect.

Again, this is SG's forum, what he does is his and his teams choice. But by destroying the backbone of the community, I see a different, non discriminatory forum rising to take the place as sro's fan site. Hard to have a fan site if 95% of the fans are not allowed.

We have a different perspective. I felt that the community started going downhill as the botting became more prevalent. Look at the posts from a year ago. People were lamenting the downfall of SRF because of botters. That's when the "no botting accusation" policy was put in place.

Unfortunately, botters used the policy as a shield. Then they became more bold and started ridiculing legits. "You have no life...Legits whine too much" ad nauseum. The legits responded with flames. They were pissed. Many moved to other forums because they were sick of being flame-baited and ridiculed by botters.

Blasjr was the last straw. He was an obvious botter and denied it while taunting Fly and Avalon constantly. So Fly caught him (not that it was hard) and posted the screen shots. Fly, in the adorable way he does, added some colorful language about the state of SRF. SG saw it the same way and decided he'd rather ban botters than ban legits for flaming botters.

Yeah, Blasjr was an asshole and deserved to be banned. But he represented and attitude that was (and still is) gaining traction among the SRF community: botting isn't bad, it's the legits that are bad. Either they're whining (before Avalon dominated a server) or they're arrogant jerks (after Avalon dominated a server).

I hope that every botter who gets banned here makes a new account and plays legit and comes back and described the fun they have playing this game. What a great community that would be, eh?

A handful of moronic botters gives em all a bad rep. I know many botters, more than i care to take the time to count or give a ballpark estimate. Nearly all of them are nice people. Players are the ones who will be turning the gears though, since without their proof nobody gets banned. This whole "war" is based their actions. Blame them if the forum gets ruined, and for ruining the game, don't blame the admins. Still the number of those exposed is very very low, and I doubt it will grow that much. You didn't understand what you said then.

nightbloom's story referred to bots as lepers, as you probably guessed, saying that you need to eliminate the problem. You said it's fine for someone to choose for themselves and only kill the pains in the ass. In this case as a forum, kill = ban. Now with the analogy, you're either a bot or a not. The bots get banned. Using the same reversal on what you said, you said they can either bot or not, and be here saying they bot or don't bot, but you're fine so long as they don't piss you off.

Proofreading your own work is always the first step to making sure you immunise yourself against anything which can be turned against you. Have a nice day.

I can agree to that. I know there are plenty of botters who are genuinely nice people, and I'm sad to hear that they bot. Botting is cheating, and if you cheat, you don't belong in the game. SRF mod team can't ban them from the game, but they can ban them from the forums.

Why should people, even nice people, who consistently break the rules - especially when it negatively affects the people who don't break the rules - not be banned?

The rules are the rules. SRF takes the stance of not supporting botting. It wouldn't make sense for them to shelter known botters, even if said botters are nice people.

If your sweet, loving little grandma is in a nice restaurant with a no smoking policy, and she's constantly lighting up a cigarette, should management let her stay? She's so nice and loved by all. At least with grandma, they can tell her "stop smoking" and can verify that she is in compliance every time she's there. You can't do that with a bot.

most ppl who actually deserve a ban for botting were probably smart enough to at least use a different username when they went to bot forums and what not. Its not a hard thing to do. Im sorry if i didn't follow certain members of Olympus around everywhere they went to SS them in action or not depending on how you look at it. This banning this ridiculous. All i am doing is bringing up the fact that HEY this problem was here since day 1, and By taking away experience members without new ones will leave avoid that i think will never be filled. You can Look in GD rate now and find at least 10 threads of people making stupid replies that aren't even relavent to the topic that was posted, than you have to even more stupid who take there time to point this out, which than gets the first idiot to comment on it (Ah the cycle of idiots at SRF) This is what it has been like for a while now, and now that you are banning botters, most of the ones who had an I.Q to post a interest or intelligent reply are banned.
