Especially when I head to DW South for fun with my Union and am repeatedly killed without a chance to even walk a foot by some jerkass who thinks it's cool, just because of the guild I'm in or because I'm lvlXX.

When they think they "pwn" because they've botted to 80, and have gained outrageous gear through unsavory ways...I don't exactly want them around. Would you? All your hard work, basically thrown in the gutter because you have morals and standards.

i can relate from where you are coming from but i wouldn't say that all server traffic is a result of bots owned by actual people, i would say 60% of server traffic is goldbots which i hate a lot because unlike people owned bot they tend to break more rules.

Lets tackle, for lack of a better word as i am typing quickly before i take a dump, the first one.

Their your friends, quite frankly you have shown your true colors by revealing who your circle of friends include, but I must agree with one of your points: "one act from one person does not constitute a generalization of the majority", but here is where things get fun; I'm going to quote non-ego-man at this point because he typed it better than myself:

So the thing that gets you to play this game as a legit comes from within. For lack of a better word, lets call it integrity. Some people have it and some people don't. If you have no integrity, of course you're going to bot. That's a no-brainer. Once it became clear you wouldn't be banned by JoyMax, the last barrier was gone.

I remember being in a store in LA that people just started looting. A couple of kids (after a rave) just started grabbing shit and taking off. Then everyone did it. Everyone except me and my two friends. Every Farking person in that store started grabbing shit and running and the guy behind the counter ran out and started screaming at everyone. Most of you would have started grabbing shit. Or laughing at the story. Guess what? It's really Farking depressing to know how many shitheads are in the world.

And maybe this is why this dialogue is so difficult. If you have no integrity, any discussion of it will seem like a foreign language. You have no reference for understanding it. Your second point, since you understand we hate them; why can't you understand why?

1. Most botters if not all have at some point bought gold; also, I'm sure most bot selling companies sell Gold [keep in mind un-cracked bots are P2use]
2. This causes hyper-inflation and crowded servers [this should be understood, if it isn't you're [plural, as in: several not directed at one specific person] a twit], E.G. no new blood [nubs], no new blood means only one* thing can happen, "people leave" people leaving slowly over time results in an *empty game* example: 'RiskYourLife'
3. Player bots RUIN the entire gaming environment, i'll use zing's example this time:

   Life has cheaters, yet people still live on. This implies to the game Silkroad Online. It has cheaters, yet we still play. Why? Because we value Silkroad as we value life.
   
   Though, this does not mean cheaters should be welcomed in open arms or not to be ignored. Cheaters gain unfair advantage, no one likes that when you're playing fair; it ruins the fun. Play a game of cards with a few friends, someone cheats. Tell me, does the fun factor goes up or down?
   
   How about winning? When you cheat, how much does the winning feel? Is it amazing? Compare winning with cheats to winning legitimately.
   
   Cheating takes away more than it gives. It gives to the unfair and takes away from the fair. It takes away the life of the game.

SRF is one of the biggest fan-based Silkroad forums out there. Where do you think brand new players go to first to get information about a game and the community inside the game? Player run forums. Always.

Some of us still cling to a hope that a change we make in the community might change the game, someday. Big or small, it might kick start a change. If not...well damn. Nowhere did I say that you didn't know that. And I'm not saying everyone is going to stop botting. I'm not *that* ignorant.

I'm trying to tell you that the aim is for newer players, who haven't been around for months or years. And hopefully players who haven't started botting but are always tempted to. If you can start a change there, it will most likely be for the better.

We know we can't force Joymax to pay attention and crack down on any bot what so ever, but we can. And when I say we, I mean people who would like to see this game gain more legitimate players that enrich game play, instead of gold/power hungry players who are only there to boost their own ego.

You need to understand it is not strictly personal. They aren't banning because they hate that person, or because that person is an idiot. They're trying to keep it fair, as fair as banning a user is. They can't just ban this person who bots, but let the next slide because they "didn't hurt anybody". Rules should not have exceptions.

banning botters from srf will stop them from posting here...? it's not like they'll be terribly missed. there are other ways to communicate other than srf

Once upon a time, I loved SRO. I dedicated a whole forum to it. The one your typing on now I loved that game. I waited every minute of every day for work to end, so I could play SRO.

In a nutshell, bots took that away from me. I burned out, I gave up and left. I waited and waited for months for Joymax to fix things and make a better game. They never did.

SRO as I knew it, was gone.

To adress a few things

Dictatorship - Hardly. Just because we dont let those not fit for leadership positions to make the laws doesnt make us a dictatorship. This is a privately owned forum. We could do as we please. We could shut the entire thing down if we wanted to. I never would, but theres not much others could do about it except start another. We dont have to keep anyone. Or let anyone stay.

You guys get away with murder. You should sign up on some of the unnofical WoW forums or technical sites I post on. You get away with a lot of flame, alot of outspoken opinion, and theres a high tolerance for arguing with us as well.

Count your blessings. You could get banned for an "owned" image like other forums would.

In the last couple days, theres been extended periods with some 200 registered users on during peak time. Spikes of even more. There was 4-6 lines of users in that new forum reading it when I checked this afternoon.
