cant blame people for going back to the better login days.
i remember when you could just leave a book on top of your enter key and go afk until u got into the server. :S
and editing your media pk2 file is still editing something that joymax distributed as a whole.
same thing as editing client, even though it doesnt affect in-game. So as far as im concerned if no-dc isnt legit then pk2 isnt either, which actually makes some mods and a large portion of high authorities in this forums not legit.

You can't really say that PK2 editing has no effect in game. I guess it depends on the edit. If you can find a way to make Yarkan 100x his size, and zoom out 20x, you'll have an unfair advantage. Turn Tiger Girl into Roc so she's easier to find, unfair. I'm not sure you could argue that making the fire nuke look like the lightening nuke is unfair though.

However, I think it's probably better to just say that ALL modifications are not allowed and worth a ban, rather than try to justify the "legitness" of that modification.

It's not our software to modify.

nightbloom wrote:PK2 editing doesnt alter the client at all. Its not re engineered and anyone can do it if they read for 2 seconds in the guides section. Its a completely different animal.

It doesn't? So I could go in and make a boatload of changes to the .pk2 files, then log into the game and everything will look/perform exactly the same way as before I made the changes?

The .pk2 files are part of the client. The client is not just the .exe file (there are 3 or 4 .exe files actually). Silkroad is a client/server application. All of the SRO files on Joymax's servers are part of the "server" part, and all of the %installdirectory%\Silkroad\ files on our computers are part of the client.

though it would be cool to turn your charector into the spider man figure, i wonder if the meta and texture are still there, any one know? If i would pk2 edit it would be to make a charector use the spider man figure and maybe change the color of a few skills or turn beserk blue cause it would look cooler, but ya i can see your point some mods do give people advantages like zoom hacks, or making somethings easier to see

I think, anything BEYOND just playing the game, doing your quests, collecting gold that falls from monsters is not legit.
Buying gold, silk and those stupid damn pets that steal your drops are NOT legit.
How many times have you partied with a group of players and never picked anything up because one of the players had a pet..If you don't use a pet you know what I'm talking about.

Having a grabber pet in party makes it go faster because you dont' have to grab gold and drops, its good for the party

And buying silk is perfectly legit

I think your missing the point, thats all part of the game. And what about that odd guy in that same party that isnt part of your group, pretty much screwed. Cause at the end of the party the odd guy gets nothing and you and your friends (guild) get it all. Yet the odd guy out did help you. Didn't he?

I think you havent played this game for very long,

If 1 person in an item share party has a pet, it shares its pickup amongst the whole party. There is nothing illegal about buy silk and using silk items. Your shizz didn’t get stolen. You got what you were going to get.

otherwise, in a non item share party, they cant touch your stuff for 20 seconds. if that isnt long enuff to get your drops, too bad for you.

I think we are missing the point. The question was "What do you consider legit". I happen to think, anything that is purchase with real money is not legit. Pretty simple question, pretty simple answer. I don't expect anyone using pets or anything else to agree, thats your choice.

As long as this forum takes a strong stand against botting, account theft and gold buying, I'm more then satisfied.

These three are what brings most harm to the game and the players.

Not that I mind the discussion, but I'm not really that concerned if someone is using a no dc-client or pk2 edits tiger girl to the size of godzilla. To me that is nothing more then a piss in mississippi in comparison.

True as this is, wrong is wrong, period. We cant say that because 1 person is drunk driving and another is going just 2 mph over the speed limit that only one is breaking the law. Sure 1 mph isnt a big deal and may NEVER cost you a ticket or arrest or even get the attention of the authorities, but its wrong nonetheless. If one can be justified by the serverity of the other, than anything can be justified.

I think these threads may as well be closed immedietly. Someone voices an opinion and them is "EXECUTED" for it. What good is a forum for other then having open topics and debates? Far as I am concerned this game sucks and the legits are so few and far between its not even FUNNY.

Rush4Life wrote:I consider a legit, somebody that does not bot.
IMO, you're still a legit if use modified clients, buy gold etc...Buying chars is not legit, beucase 99% of all sold chars are bot chars.

EDIT: Oh and scamming/hacking isn't legit either!

and this one

Honestly not worth my time to keep looking.
I have Real Life to deal with.

Interestingly enough, if you get caught even going 1 mile over the speed limit on the property where I work, the police WILL pull you over and WILL give you a ticket, every time.

Legit =

no bots,
no goldbuying,
no altered client/3rd party software,
no plvl by bots,
no scamming/hacking.

It's people that engage in the TOS offenses above that have turned this game into something that's not so fun to play anymore. It's not Joymax's fault the game has come to this point, but it is their fault that it is staying the way it is. Legits, happy hunting, and fight the good fight :D

note to offenders: If it gets too boring to play, why turn to these measures to make the game less enjoyable to others? I can understand why people cheat in real life (doesn't make it any less wrong), but cheating in a video game is just purely pathetic. :banghead:

even Joymax does not follow its own TOS so why would i?
just because i sold accounts and do play on some friends accounts i should suddenly consider myself not legit?

legit:
not botting
not buying gold
not scamming (abusing people stupidity and greed)
not hacking

i don`t see any reason why i should be banned.
if its because of the account selling then guess we should ban anyone who posted anything about pk2 editing since that is also against the TOS.
