So is it a lost cause to play on Xian for free?

I just got my computer fully redone, or at least to the maximum I can afford. Yada yada yada. Normal shit. I try to join the Xian server for a few days now, at all times of the day, even those when DCs are really low, or low internet traffic points and try to get on. I have had no luck thus far. I start browsing for little hints and such for it, and I come across the Wikipedia Article on SRO. This quote really hit a nerve:

...During peak hours, this can lead to numerous attempts at logging in (which involve restarting the client), due to the lack of a login queuing system or other login control features. Customers that purchase a Premium Ticket (PT) for US$20 or US$15 can login regardless of server traffic... . All of the original servers (those opened when SilkRoad Online was in its infancy including Xian and Troy among others) almost require a Premium Ticket due to the large volume of players attempting to connect simultaneously.

So, that being said, has anyone really successfully logged into one of the original servers without a premium pass?

I have almost given up on getting back in, but it's disappointing that I poured so much time and money into this game and on my things, but can no longer access it. To the point that I've tried starting new characters on other servers with lower traffic (Odin, The ones named after planets, etc.) but it's so grindingly slow that I get bored fairly quickly.

Yeah those older servers are rough. You can try to login at 3pm or 3am and it will make no difference. They are packed like 24/7.

Thats just it though. I can't pop in 20 bucks a month for this. I got into this game because it was fun, and it didn't require a monthly fee. I guess this is why Multi Server characters would be such a great idea. I just wish Joymax would listen to users every once in a while. Then again, if they can rake in 20/15 bucks from several thousand people a month in several servers, sans the rest of the Item mall would rake in some serious cash. It's just I got deep roots in Xian, got my firsts there and know a lot of people from it, and going to another server, everything looks the same, but it's so foreign. Hell,After 2 years of play, I could finally afford my first level appropriate SOS Weapon after a minor trade, and got disconnected from the server and never been able to log in after that. That was 4 months ago.

I've been putting a few characters on a few servers. I got two on Odin, 3 on Troy, 4 on Xian, 1 in Pac, 1 on Aege, and a few in a few others. It just irritates me though. the ones I've had for a couple years, all the friends and such, it just irritates me.

could come hang out on venus, a decent number of people in our union used to play on xian, or just log in after inspection and like never log out lol, thats what i did before i had premium.

I'm on Xian with no premium, its hard but its not impossible, usualy takes around 5-10mins or so during the day.

is possible if u know at which hour u can log in. when i play i usually buy ticket, but if not i log in when i wake up, at 6am of GMT+1 it take me 1-2 tries, and i play when i come home^^ its easy too at late night... u just have to find that moments.
but it will be better for u going to a new server

Although greece isn't as old as xian, as long as i attempt before between 8:30 am and 7:30 pm i can ussually get in within 15 mins. I consider that a good rate, but i guess it comes down to what you expect to be "good"
