So you're saying it's fine if you don't bot, but you buy golds collected by bots? There's no difference between botting and buy gold form bots. Both ways you're benefiting from doing nothing.

What a bunch of hypocrites. I can't wait to see this place cleaned out.

*sigh* I have to quote myself because you seem incapable of reading an entire thread Cr4ck.

you amaze me.

botting is obviously not legit. where the hell do you think that gold you are buying comes from? from legits who so kindly donate it to gold companies? get real and get with the program. gold-selling companies have HOARDS of clientless and cliented bots in every server 24/7 collecting gold to sell to people like you, who either don't care that it's not legit or have convinced themselves it is. i have a secret for you, my boy. IT'S NOT.

banned. i hope that clears up that little section of the debate.

See now i would of said this as well. But the joymax tos doesn't allow for anyone to alter the client. So by this definition using p2k to do something like.. edit your 7th degree sword into an 8th degree sword makes you a non legit?

This is the iffy bit. I chose my words carefully to not include pk2 edits that only give a client sided aesthetic alteration for the player. By all means, yes this is client alteration.

That is open to discussion what you all think about pk2 edits, cause in my opinion, it gives minimal (if at all) any gameplay advantage. Other users do not see the alteration, and doing so (say change your weapon to a sosun glow) is akin to deluding oneself or sticking post-its on the computer screen, to remind yourself you have something that you dont :P.

Language filter removal? Font fix? Naked chars (oh dear)? All can be pk2 edited. Advantage in gameplay? Or is that irrelevant to play legitimacy. Discuss.

I think the chat filter removal is something that should be looked over more carefully. This one isn't just client side; if for instance you edited your filter to remove the f-word from it (I'm trying to be the most informative, dodge forum filters and get my point across; not childish :P) and you type it into chat, everyone will see that. Because that just edited a client side data transmission function.

I heard mention of but never heard if it was really true. P2k edit to make people that are invisible look like they would if they were invisible AND in your party (see through). If it's real, used against wizards/rogues in job war, guild wars, and fortress wars, then you modified part of the game, not just something on your client.

*Basically, if the stance is that you can't edit the game at all, then you can't edit the game at all (no No-DC clients, no p2k editing) even if it doesn't change the game for anyone else but yourself. Some editing, as you stated Syl; doesn't affect anyone at all, just makes you look cool with a glowing weapon or wearing a different degree armor, but it still is editing the client.

I've never experimented with p2k editing, and don't think I will because I'm more worried I'll mess something up, rather than make something glow yellow, blue, etc.

*edited to add this part, and also again to make this little asterisk! :P

pk2 is a touchy subject for a good reason. On one hand, it is client editing. On the other hand, it gives no true advantage. The filter is done client sided, which is why swear will show up to everyone else. The rest of the stuff is partially server, partially client. Which is why they show up only to you. Just because your client says "hey, I'm wearing 80 seal of cruor, leetify me!" Doesn't mean the server will allow it. It's a tough issue.

Afaik no one has done a simple pk2 edit of it yet (not saying it is impossible). There is an invisible/stealth visual enabler, but its not a pk2 edit, and beyond the scope of discussion of this thread (the method to do so would make you unlegit).

Ah, I had only heard of it as a p2k edit sort of thing, sorry for bringing it into the discussion.

Re: What do you consider legit?

let me ask this: do you people REALLY want us to ban pk2? i mean come on. there's a huge portion of the community that spends a lot of time and effort in unlocking cool elements from the game that have not been experimented with or released yet, and it doesn't hurt anyone at all.

if at some point it is proven that pk2 can alter the state of invisibility for rogues, etc., we will re-examine the issue, but let's not get carried away here. we are focusing on those who hurt our gameplay. if you're gonna draw a line in the sand, draw the right line.

"What do you consider legit?"

How about this: What do you consider an unfair advantage?

Powerleveling is legit, its part of the game. Thats like saying, ice shield isn't legit because it gives an advantage to INTs.

Its not about unfair advantage.

PK2 editing, asfai am concerned, is a tool to peer into the future of SRO. I have never used it myself, but Cruor has done amazing things with it.

Its a strange grey area, one that doesnt bear close inspection. lol

Powerleveling is two things:

1. A company that you pay to play for you, hence the word gets filtered out in game. This is against the ToS, and prohibited gameplay practice by JM.

2. Powerlevel syn. taxi, pwrlvl: is an ingame term to denote leveling method abusing share party system, so as the one being assisted can gain levels at a faster rate than normal gameplay. It is not against the rules of the game.

so whats the unfair advantage given by a no-dc client....it doesn't even guarantee login it just doesn't kick you out when you inevitably are unable to login....whats the unfair advantage in that....its victim-less and had no impact on anyone except the user whatsoever....

I've been using intrigued for a long time, it's part of English. I don't even watch Naruto, so you might wanna watch where you fling that around. All I asked was a simple question, yet you get so defensive. Me thinks you're hiding something.
