I just thought it was fantastic. I read it a long time ago, but it still is a favorite of mine. A classic. Made me want to move to Algeria for a while hehe

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

A society burns books so everyone is equal.

Loved it. Its about 150 pages and only took me 2 days to read. Im doing a critical term paper on it right now. I highly suggest it to everyone.

3. It is one of the best, if not THE best, science fiction/fantasy book series i have ever read. The book starts out here on earth and many of its elements give it a sense of realistic fiction. If you like fiction it will definitely get you hooked. The books are very exciting, i promise. The series isn't over however, i think there are about 9 books in the series so far but they dont get boring. You should definitely check them out.

one of my personal favorites is

Wicked - by Gregory Maguire

Its basically the story of the "Wicked" Witch of the West. If you've seen or heard the musical forget it, it hardly anything like the book. Maguires version of Oz is like jumping back to the 1800's with a Gothic twist. The eastern farmlands are going through drought causing uprisings and pagan worship among the farmers. The Northern Industrial area is growing however slowly, its progress halted by political powers in the Emerald City. The Southern marshes are under raid as the land is spoiled by Imperial prospectors to reaches the riches below. The arrival of the Wizard brings first a Coup followed quickly by war, genocide, and a style of rule similar to Nazi Germany.
If you were expecting simply a retelling of "The Wizard of Oz" your looking in the wrong place as that part of the book is only towards the very end. This is really the story of a person, a woman, an outcast from birth and how she develops from an empathetic naturalist to a silent rebel and finally having lost so much into a isolationist hated and rejected from the world.
This is not a children's story and is extremely graphic at some parts often catching you off guard but its not so graphic is hard to read. Maguire has taken a fantasy world imaginable only in make-believe and turned into a story so real, so human, you'll be left unexpected satisfied by the end.

on a scale of 1-10 1 being the lowest 10 being the highest i'd give this book a solid 9/10 and believe me im quite a bookworm but im an extremely critical reader.

Catch 22

Fun book about a world war I pilot who wants to get out of the air force. The plot is hard to follow, the setting changes constantly, none of the characters make any logical sense, everyone in the book is probably crazy, and the time line goes to random spots every chapter; which makes it very funny and a great book.

Lord of the Ring books and The Hobbit, read hobbit first. All 4 books are great works of high fantasy. And its not an exxageration to say that Tolkien spawned all the fantasy shit they have now..like eragon, ewww.

The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Just plain old awesome book.

This chronicles the adventures of Earthling Arthur Dent has he hitch-hikes across the galactic disc, lacking a home due to the sudden destruction of the Earth by Vogons. The book follows Dent's wacky adventures with time travel, teleportation, sports, poetry, and alcohol.

This book is one of the most entertaining books ever written. Read it today for a good laugh.

His Excellency by Joseph Ellis

Biography of George Washington: Explains George's life in great depth showing how his views did not always parallel those of the American public or other political figures.

I'm not done with it yet, but it is a great read.

When i played The Witcher game, i was interested in Sapkowski's books (the Geralt of Rivia saga), and i can say that it's one of the best real fantasy (i use "real fantasy" when i think something very real is being said through a ficitional story) books i've read.

There's "The Historian" too, i can't remember the autor right now

"The World of Sophia" by Jostein Gaarder.

"Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Brontë.

And Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials Trilogy".

I really like them, because of the nature of human's behavior described in them more than anything else (the narrative quality is also really good).

The IRA is obviously not going to be happy with this - their best man, Jig, is dispatched to find out what went wrong, retrieve the money, and mete out retribution. He has a contact in the States, but the Brits are sending a man after him, and it looks like another player has headed across the Atlantic as well.
"Jig" is a first-rate thriller, one of the best ever to use the conflict in Northern Ireland as its driving force, and far superior to the bulk of better publicised (and hyped-up) thrillers published since the 1980's. Although the situation in Ireland has undergone significant changes since the writing of "Jig", it remains a compulsive read. Campbell Armstrong writes a fast paced novel in which he builds a number of convincing characters and explores the dynamics of their interaction in sophisticated fashion. It's a timeless classic. This is an intelligent, seriously well-written page turner of a book from a highly skilled author. An exciting, highly enjoyable thriller.

I've been reading Tim Dorsey lately. Anything in his series is good. Recurring caracters and actual florida history mixed with fiction make them a fun read. All of his books are funny and action packed. You will fall in love with his unlikely hero Serge A. Storms. The character has several coexisting mental illnesses that render him obsessive, psychopathic, and frequently homicidal, but Storms serves as the anti-hero in Dorsey's works due to his strong sense of moral absolutism and justice. Serge is quite intelligent, and frequently devises wildly inventive ways of condemning villains (or at least who he perceives as such) to death.
