Pure int bard with heavy armor?

Post by Shogungari »

I'm making a pure int bard, no sub class. I'm having trouble staying alive, even at level 13. I was thinking if I used a second mastery solely for wearing other armor, I'd be able to take some hits because right now all I have are robes. Would it be smart if I, say, leveled the warrior class so I could wear heavy armor, but only have skills of a bard?

Use Cleric for Light Armor and if you want you can get the skills later.

+1 cleric will help u so much more then warrior because u recovery division, and bless spell, will help u so much more then heavy armor. also, light armor will help with moving speed and decrease mp usage.

that's what I was thinking. I was thinking that eventually I'd become a bard/cleric, but for now just stick with bard. So you think by leveling up bard mastery now and allowing me to get light armor, it would benefit me later on? And is mp consumption reduction and speed increases really necessary? If I'm going full bard, that means I have skills that recover MP and increase speed easily.

Its better than becoming hybrid in my opinion...
Id suggest you up the cleric for the light armor. Youll probalby want cleric as a sub in the future.

Don't do it. You end up leveling Warrior just for the armor, I did this myself and later dropped it. My suggestion is simple, if you just must play a Bard primary.

Go Wizard sub. With Wizard sub you can solo when necessary and kill much faster.

Mana Wind is like a Cleric Heal, but for Mana. It draws Heal type aggro, be careful with it.

If you take the typical advice of Bard/Cleric (aka Cleric/Bard) you will have a hell of a time when you have to solo (quests and such). Avoid this.

Bard/Cleric is easy to lvl up and a strong build in groups and solo pvp - don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Since you have decided to be full int, don't bother trying to tank. Fact is, no matter how hard you try, it will be very hard for you to tank a party mob in your own level. I know from experience. I used to have a lvl 44 full int Chinese nuker wearing good heavy armor. When a lvl 49 normal mujigi lands a good critical on me, I am certainly dead. A lvl 44 party bunwang will hit similar, or more, than the normal mujigi. All in all, a full int trying to tank with heavy armor will be very painful for you, and you will need lots of money on armor and lots of sp on defensive buffs.

Does that mean that you just let yourself die? Of course not. You should try to survive by not getting hit at all. As a bard on robe with Moving Match, you should have no problem running away from most mobs. Train yourself to recognize danger and run away at the first sight of them. Imagine the worst case scenario like when a mob spawns right behind you, and locate yourself in the middle of your party accordingly. Keep Noise on 24/7.

I also suggest that you get wizard mastery up to lvl 30, just for teleport and invincible level 1. Those do wonders when you need to run away, or sneak pass a group of aggro mobs to get to your farming location. Moving Match and Invincible stacks btw.
