Honestly, I know the hard work put into this signature. The effort put into making the BG alone is more than other peoples entire sigs. Holla your no Simon Cowell, if you wanna criticize people's work you gotta be actually better than them. If you or any other person dislike the hard work of somebody then keep it to yourself or say it in a nice way. I'am a friend of BrokenSaint and we are good buddies at school; so i know for a fact the effort put into his pieces, only to be shoved down by a person who has no authority to say so. The words said to an artist must be respectful of the effort put into a piece. Ain't hattin' just making sure you understand. (Don't ban me, it's just an issue i'm concerned about)

Sorry, I can criticize whom-ever I so choose. Last time I checked I didn't need your permission to do so. I've been doing graphics longer then him that's for sure. As far as I'm concerned everyone has the right to speak their mind, and skill ability doesn't abstain their right to do so. I don't see why you budded your nose into this, but oh well. I never questioned his effort, nor said he didn't put forth any. I'm saying as an artist, and me not being the only one who feels so, it wasn't that good of a piece of work. I'm going to be blunt and tell the truth. I don't have the time to buttercup every critique I give, I'm sorry. It's up to you if you want to read what i've written, skip over it if you don't like what I have to say. If you come at me hostile then I most certainly will defend myself. Hey guys.

For the last few months, I have seen a lot of newcomers come and go. Some stayed and some eventually faded away. Back then, people gave lots of good comments and gave some really good constructive criticisms but in a way that didn't trash the person's sig and that's why I loved the AC.

But ever since a burst of new people came to the AC, I've noticed that some of the fellow artists had a nag for pointing our every flaw without even leaving a single nice comment. It was so discouraging. I mean it sounded like no one had anything good to say about their work, which was probably the reason why nightbloom left the AC because her sigs we're so different. I put A LOT of effort and time into my art and I'll be damned If I have it shoved down my throat. Don't get me wrong, I can handle criticism, but it seems like criticism was outnumbering comments. Sometimes the criticism just sounds plain mean even if the person didn't mean it to sound that way.

I've never said anything about any issue like this ever since I joined the AC, so I'd rather get this off my chest now too. Now, I'm not gonna lie. I did feel a little offended when I read "There's a green sploch on his neck." Was wondering what that supposed to mean. However I take some criticism nonetheless, just so I can do better at what I love to do. Some things are best kept in moderation though.

But yeah, it could be the artistic preference. I know a lot of people love HOLLA's style and a majority of the AC love to do his style.

Lol, Sorry about LM Holla, some times he speaks too much of his mind. He is my RL friend so I can understand why he's defending me. Let's keep it civil eh?

I dunno man. I was thinking of going to some GFX site like Tech-GFX just to post my artwork. At least I can get some critiquing from professionals, or continue posting at the first and only forum I've visited and loved in my entire life: SRF

No offense to anyone, but just be happy your getting critiqued honestly.

You dont want to be told somethings amazing when its not, so you believe it is and in turn you keep producing mediocre sigs that you think are amazing simply because someone is too afraid to grow some balls and tell you the truth.

I personally like it when people tell me the truth, because its the only way to get better.

I don't have a problem with being critiqued "honestly", but yeah when that's the only thing they do. I mean it doesn't hurt to compliment at least on the effort right? It gets so discouraging. Sometimes you may get the feeling nobody appreciates it. Then again, criticism is criticism.

BS I do admire your work. Your sigs are bit more at a level of other GFX sites, and it fits their style too. It seems like they value more effects, colors and more effects. This piece was amazing, it was a bit cluttersome for some of our tastes. That shouldn't let you down, though I did too notiece the messiness around his neck. I like to keep my render clean and not let any c4ds touch her/him so, again its difference of personal taste.

One thing people need to try is to skip what you think of the specific style and more focus on what he/she did.

What I mean is less personal preference and more photoshop skills.

Even if you don't like BS's sig I bet no one here in the AC could do what he just did.

I have to agree with you on this. But skills are used to create effect and if the effect isn't what you like, it makes it harder to comment on the skill itself.

on a sig, people get positive and negative comments.
sometimes, they get lots of negative on the one sig, and lots of positive on the other.
BS has had tons of topics in which his sigs were praised, this is one where i see three
or four people that don't like it, and point out why.

another thing, there are some artists in here that post a new sig every 2 or 3 hours.
result is the sig is built exactly the same way as the ones that member posted before
that one, which means if the first one had negative comments, so will the ones that
follow. i see this happening a lot, most of the new members in here post so many it's
hard to keep track of them. sometimes you need more time to make sigs to actually make
something more original.

now, as almost all of you guys already said before me, i'm not an super artist either.
i do have my opinion on how i would like things to look. i was about to write something
about the design study i'm currently doing (we have this little design-dictator that
calls himself teacher), but i think you guys already got the point across that there
are many places where people get much worse comments than here in the AC.

i myself am an honest poster when it comes to nsr. i usually try to stay nice, but if
people start getting pushy or cocky, i won't try to make the sig sound better than it
is in my opinion. sure, when i see some people that start working with photoshop and
post their first couple of sigs, i do tell them they did a good job on this and that,
but if i see a veteran artist corner member post a sig, and imo its way below his level,
i will certainly let him know.

about the sig, there's things i like and dislike. it's a bit messy but that doesn't
really bother me. it's not like the c4d completely took over the sig. two things do
bother me a bit tho, thats the blue behind the focal (the blue doesn't really fit
there imo, but that's just a matter of taste..), and the fact that the whole focal
looks somewhat oversharpened. also, i think it would look better if the background
(the dark part of it that is) would be darker. especially now you have it above your
other sig, which i love, it looks dull because of the slightly lighter background.

Ofcourse, there will always be someone who loves your style and others who don't care for it. It is art afterall. I've been doing gfx for many years, so although many don't see my opinions to be "professional" I do know what i'm talking about. On a personal note, I think you should join up gfx sites, you should hear other experienced artist's views on your work. I'll try to be more clear with my criticism in the future.

• positive comment
• area for improvement
• positive comment.

ex:

• i can see you put a lot of effort into _____.
• however, there's an element of the ______ that i am not feeling, maybe it's bcause of ______.
• i DO like what you did with ________, though; how did you do that?

even if you hate everything a bout a piece, be nice or don't bother. and yes, you DO have the time to do so. you can say the exact same thing in many ways. not all criticism is constructive criticism.

That's the way I 'always' like to see it, of course a tag can look really bad to you, but there's bound to be something good about it..

There are always assholes in the world that claim it's a complete failure and do so with harsh wording, however this doesn't apply to all people, and especially not to the AC here (at least it used to be that way)

About the GFX sites.. THIS ISN'T ONE! if you're gonna be a butthole imo GTFO. Hence my little outburst against faiien the other day..

Imo, the AC here, is meant to be a good helper on the way to becoming a great artist, because many GFX sites tend to treat their members like buttholes and idiots, because they made something 'not so pretty'. We loose a lot of artists, that's what I've always liked about the AC, and the reason it's about the only site I stick to, for my artist's needs. (Not so much because I got bad critisism, but mostly to the general bad critisism..)

If you're gonna say something do it in a good way, meant to HELP the creator of the piece..

On the other hand HOLLA's critique might have been hard, but at least you got what he meant, and got some points of improvement.

And finally I'd like to say, I DO like the sig a lot, it might be messy, but so is my room, and I like my room, so I like the sig too

This tag.. im jealous. SOme parts look a little messy though like under him to the left, try to blur that a tiny bit. But anyways im loving the colours and evrything else.
