Light/Cold grinding

Post by ontaria »

I'm a light/cold nuker and grinding with the ice nukes is getting to be a pain. I'm currently level 42 and my lvl 7 ice nuke does the same damage as my lvl 1 fire nuke (the first nuke you get at 30). Would it be worthwhile for me to lvl fire up to 43 so i could get the next fire nuke book and have an easier time grinding, or is it not worth it since I will have to de-lvl fire to 30 at the 90 cap anyways? The ice nuke is really a joke and a waste of MP.

Thanks for the help! If you have Any other suggestions while grinding please post.

My plan:
hybrid s/s-93%

90ice
90light
90bicheon
30 fire

well from my experience with nukers the most common lighting and fire ones work best but in your case i would advise getting the fire nuke maybe even the lightning just to make it alot easier for you

you shoulda used light or fire nuke as your main imbue. Ice is ideal but its too weak and your gonna kill mobs in 1 or 2 hits anyways, you dont need to slow them down

Oh, I do have the light nukes and light as my main tree! But for the secondary nukes I have ice. Sorry i forgot to mention that. I have to use a light nuke, cold nuke, and 2 lion shouts =\. the cold nuke is just a waste of MP IMO.

If you use all that to kill a monster you definately need to fight lower level monsters, unless you have a Full Set of Sun Armor.

So..I don't get it! My Mag balance is at 91%, why is my damage so low? I have a decent level 42 sword. Should i take fire up to 43 or what should i do? Is my 93% hybrid really going to make a difference compared to the 96%?

I planned to be a spear hybrid, but i changed my mind and decided to become a s/s users. I have hueksal skills at 36, fire at 30, and bicheon, ice, and light at 42. I'm planning (as I work my up the levels) to de-lvl hueksal over time. Unfortunately I already added ~11 points of STR into my build and the highest balance i can get naked at the 80 cap is 93%.

Should I change my entire build around and go light/fire 90 and cold 30 or what?

Update: I'm 43 now and got the new fire nuke. I can nuke and shout and kill bunwangs now :) So the fire nuke is a plus, but what to do in the future?

What should my build be?

If you wanna be a hybrid s/s keep you mag balance at 90%, dont go below 85% or you will have a hard time killing. IMO light/cold is for pure int since they need the extra defense but since your a hybrid you can take fire over ice.

but then when 90 cap comes ull have to delvl the fire which would be a pain cause the ice at 30 would only give u 30% >.<

I have such a hard time choosing fire/ice. Fire makes it a helluva lot easier on me to grind, as well as my pocket because i don't have to use as many MP pots. On the contrary, ice makes it easier to survive but sooo much harder to level up :?

It's choosing that defense over damage and damage over defense.

I like to PvP and will most likely be PvPing in Fortress/job/guild wars though. Should I stick to that light/cold idea or shall i switch it up. Right now my fire nuke is doing more damage than my light nuke and the ice nuke is just a joke lol!

I personally don't give a f.uck about the 90 cap cuz I know I will never get there but if you think you can do it then just plan in advance and leave fire at 30. And ice at 30 does not give 30% it give something like 24%.

Could someone please post how i can grind without the fire nukes? Using the ice nukes really does nothing. The 2nd book of the light nuke will do much more damage than the first so I am supposed to use 2nd book>1st book>Lion shout? If I'm level 65, I won't be able to 1 hit monsters with the first light nuke book if the 2nd one is still charging...Alright now I'm getting myself confused.

All in all, how am I supposed to grind with just ONE up-to-date light nuke? If I took fire I could have 3 nukes to use which is ideal. I know light/ice is great for PvP, but not really great for grinding. All in all i want a build that is great for grinding, and decent at PvP. Please help me settle this issue. Using Ice, I feel very weak =\

If I do take fire, should i use the fire imbue instead of light?

yeah man, it is tough to not have fire while grinding. but you have to decide like the other post tell u, you want damage go fire, you want defense go ice. Unless you have 1 mil sp and gold to spend I suggest u pick one. I have a hard time choosing myself so right now i have bicheon, light, ice, fire at 44 doh....remember you need light for nuker so that tree must be maxed and you need weapon for pvp or just for fun (those weapon skills look cool) so you end up with only 1 more tree as sub so you MUST choose: FIRE or ICE. SP wise i recommend going ice as sub. also, it gets easier once u get to higer lvl and has better gears and weapon.
