I was really looking forward to him as the Joker, but personally, the only film I truly liked with him in it was Brokeback Mountain. I think the film was fantastic, and I think he did a MUCH better job acting than Jake Gyllenhall or whatever his name is.

what! jake totally had that movie even if he has no neck....all heath Ledger did was mumble throughout the whole thing. That scene where he's talking to that lady in the coffee shop is so inaudible my friend just bust out laughing and kept rewinding it....

but i am looking forward to seeing how he plays batman though Jack will always be the real joker

Nah, I can't take Jake very seriously. He looks friggin' 12 throughout the entire movie and always seems sort of half-retarded in almost every film he does. Even jarhead he seemed a little stupid, although, you gotta be stupid to join the marines

and, I've seen clips of him as Joker. I dunno, he's going to give Jack a run for his money. He's REALLY good from what i've seen

The first two days I didn't even know what to say because I couldn't wrap my head around it.

Now that I've had a couple days to reflect, I guess I just wanted to say that I think that Heath was really something special as an actor, and all the things I've seen point to him being a hell of a guy as well.

Ultimately, my grief is a selfish one. How could it not be? I didn't know him. I only know his work. I wanted to be thrilled again the way I was the first time I heard the Joker speak and laugh. I wanted to bask in the hype and the excitement with him. Watch him shock and delight audiences and critics. Maybe get nominated for an Oscar. Maybe win, and accept in that humble and genuinely surprised way of his, completely oblivious to just how proud he had done all us Batfans. I wanted that. He is gone, and for what he was to me--someone I never knew, but who nevertheless meant something to me--he is deeply, deeply missed.
