destiny is like religion, nothing but a crutch for the weak minded. both were created by man to help explain the unexplainable and to give hope when all seemed lost.
age: 31
religion: raised roman catholic, spent many years studying world religions, and now have my own beliefs, but would not go as far as atheist.

Do u know that it's actually destiny who controls your brain who control your life? What u think, what u are going to do are already planned by God.

So each and every one of us "uniquely created by God" are actually puppets made to be controlled by Him?

Indeed.
U thought that atm u are self-controlling. But actually, all your thoughts are written in his dairy

Wow this is a really debatable topic. Im hoping i spelled that right.

So for starters. Im a Christian. And so I believe God has a plan for all of us.

But thats just what I believe in. I also believe that Destiny is what you believe in whether you believe its real or not.

And Nuclearsilo. I dont think it controls your life. We were given the free will to do what we want in life.

Thats my input on this

Destiny is a creation of the human avoidance. That which we cannot control is automatically attributed to the unknown or mystical. The concept of destiny can only be seen as a desperate measure at understanding the world around us which in some cases is impossible. But to declare that an all powerful force, that which controls our life, unwilling to stop, is present is heresy.

I do not wish to disclose my age or religion.

Just curious, but why cant you disclose your age or religion? Cmon, we dont bite or anything. I do agree somewhat with your point of view though. I dont think there is a force governing our actions and for the lack of a better term, our "destiny."

I don't really have an opinion on this subject, so sorry if I'm interrupting the thread topic, but when I think of "destiny," it occurs to me as a paradox. This is just a lame example, but:
You time travel to 5 minutes ago, and steal your own computer from yourself. Is this considered stealing, because you're stealing from your own self, even though you've created another time thread? Some arguments may suggest it could and could not be, because you're using your own computer but if you take it from yourself, basically you're still using your own computer because you give yourself permission, but if you don't give yourself permission to take your own computer, how can you use it yourself even if you don't steal your own computer?

This has been such a help guys, believe me. And it can still go on, i havent presented my Presentation yet, so i am still including samples.

Just remember your age and Relegion. and once again, i must stress not to overly critisize people's opinions. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I dont believe in destiny. I mean, look at those homeless, you think thats their destiny? No way, they can work, earn money, buy some food instead of sitting there and beg for cents and thinking - oh God why, why?
Destiny. I can chance my life now easilly, so, destiny will stop me? Hell no, i can make wrong turn in my life, or, i can make it better, just need to work hard.

Again, so you don't have to look back:
Age: 19
Religion: Atheist
I thought I would give a definition of destiny from an actual dictionary (even if it's a web dictionary)

destiny, fate
an event (or a course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future
source:http://www.wordreference.com/definition/destiny

So, if you believe in God, you will say God writes your destiny or, God has a plan for all of us. Either way, if you take the Bible literally, you already believe in destiny because it doesn't have to include every moment of your life, just an event. From that I can say I believe in destiny, because everyone's destiny is to die, right? Well, sure, but if I call it causality and present it as a scientific principle, would you argue with it. In fact, causality overrides destiny, because it governs every moment of pretty much everything. Meaning if you had a godly supercomputer, and it's probably theoretically impossible to make these calculations, you would know everything from the first events that happened by calculating what they would cause. If you can change your destiny (event or course of events that inevitably happens), and you cannot because if you do change an event that supposedly would inevitably happen, then that event isn't destiny (by definition). So unless we figure out a way to completely prevent our own deaths, which would be pretty hard to do, the only destiny you would have is to die. If you can prevent an event from happening, that event is no longer destiny, so you never really changed destiny in the first place.

I am sure whoever reads that will have as much trouble understanding it , as I had trying to make it coherent for myself....but basically, even if you believe in destiny and there is such a thing (by definition) written somewhere, it will only have 1 sentence "You will eventually die". Does me no good. Does me no good believing in causality either, since I can never use it, or gain anything from knowing it governs every moment of my life. I would have made those choices anyway, after all, they were caused by my environment.
