I recently upgraded my OS to Windows Vista Ultimate. Originally I had Xp. Would i have to emulate another OS or could I use my Vista as well as my Xp?
You can't run one OS inside another unless you use software like VMware server. VMware server is capable of running the second OS right off a physical partition.
Again, VMware is HUGE overhead for something like this.

would you happen to know any way to do this on vista rather than linux?
i tried logging on silkroad on one Windows User Acct. and then again on a different Windows User Acct.... but i get an error message with unknown characters on the second Acct.
On a side note: 2 SROs with dual monitors would be interesting=)

No I wouldn't know for sure how to do it in Vista. I don't have Vista on any of my systems.

This will only work if you know what you do.. And then still it will be hard. Follow those steps and your chance of succeeding is still small.. It is just really hard to do this
I think it would be quite difficult to do this on Windows (XP, Vista, 98, etc) without a Virtual Machine. If I recall correctly, Windows only allows one user to have control of the desktop at one time. For example, if you log on your computer from a remote connection with Remote Desktop, the local mouse/keyboard locks, and the screen goes back to the Welcome/Logon screen. Once the remote connection ends, the local one can log back on.
That's nothing to do with SRO, but it should still apply. I don't think multiple XP/Vista users could even access the local desktop simultaneously. Maybe there is some obscure Registry setting to allow this. I'm not sure.
Hmmm, perhaps Windows 2003 Server with Terminal Services. I believe TS on 2003 Server allows multiple simultaneous connections. Never had Server 2003 though.
