take some benadryl, works for me anyways. knocks me out to the point where i can't wake up. theres other things like Melatonin (if you can find some), theres a lot of things you can take without going to the doctor that can make you fall asleep.
I lack time to read every useful reply, thus I'm going to make some of my own regardless if they've been posted before.
1) Don't, I repear don't take sleeping pills. Sure they make you sleep, but the quality of your sleep sucks thus it's not a good option.
2) Drink something warm like hot milk or even better. Take a long hot shower/bath. I'm always tired after one of those.
3) Don't drink caffeine after 5. Caffeine has quite long halftime-value leading to a long effect, though your body becomes used to caffeine making it less useful to drink it.
4) Try having sex. Woman always complain that men fall asleep after sex.
5)......
Anyway I'm always tired. I sleep 8hours/day and I'm still sleepy for the rest of the day. It's such a hassle. Specially if one needs to study for exams.
cin, dunno if someone mentioned this already (cba to read 5 pages atm) but having sex / masturbate just before you go to bed helps it's scientifically proven that when a man ejaculates there will start to excist some hormones in the body that cause sleepness

I think you'll pass out on your keyboard and wakeup with an 8 stuck to your forehead, but I think it'll help...
I said smoking before, but why not a Schmok an' a pankicke?
Girls are just like the world's beautiful sun: when you look at them, they're beaaaauuutiful, but when you try to get closer to them, they might hurt you. XD
Hey Cin, where you live? Phillipines? I have no idea haha
as for you sleep problems, once you get better and aren't sick, you should really try exercising earlier in the day. That helps. I haven't been doing much lately, but I'm going to start tonight...go for a jog. I've had problems where I tend to want to sleep too much. but then, if I take a nap after work, I usually have a hard time falling asleep at night later on.
If nothing works, tylenol pm will knock you out...or, a glass of whiskey

Bedroom temp should be around 16 - 18 °C
Always make sure the room is vented or has been, so there is alot of fresh air.
Do not watch TV - Use the computer right before going to bed.
Read, go for a walk or do other excercices, take a warm shower/bath.
About the having sex part, only works for guys. Once you reach your climax the body release a hormone that makes you woozie to compensate for the testosterone that was released during "the deed". So this could work as well.
The milk and honey trick only works if you have done it from childhood. It reminds people of the safe enviroment of their parental home so you relax. And when you relax ---> you fall asleep.
So maybe thinking of a safe, relaxing environment might do the trick.
....Who doesn't have sleeping problems? I would like to know that person's secret. Seriously though, sleeplessness is usually caused by anxiousness. You can never sleep when you have something exciting/scary to do the next day....which is why a lot of people sleep through tests...
Leaving your window open so your bed gets super cold (in the winter at 43* latitude, it gets pretty cold... -ve temp in the room...haha) and then cuddling up to make yourself warm usually works well.
I am a serious insomniac, but my problem is that I hate falling asleep and waking up, so I avoid sleep in the first place...so it's either under 6 hours of sleep or over 10 hours of sleep for me..lol...so feel better knowing some people are worse off in terms of getting a good night sleep.
Edit: I wish I could reverse day and night activities, since I am pretty much nocturnal.
1. Listen to soothing music. 2. Set up a routine. Go to bed at the same time every night. 3. Read a book of your choice. 4. Do some light exercise. 5. Consider aromatherapy. 6. Shower before bed. 7. Don't eat sugar or caffeine before you sleep. 8. Try to avoid heavy meals before bedtime. 9. Don't face the clock while you try to sleep so it doesn't distract you. 10. Use breathing exercises to relax you.
