I suprised by some of what has been said. I too am I financial adviser. I believe I provide a very valuable service to my clients and they would certainly agree. Can people do research on their own pic their own investments, police their personal spending, insure they are meeting their goals, and spend time learning complex tax law, estate planning, and the ins and outs of corporate benefits. Sure! They can also go to college study, engineering, mechanics, welding, electronics and a variety of other subjects a build their own cars but.....
Some of my clients do their own trading and I provide fee based advice for them, others, I handle everything for them and they had nothing prior to working with me. To that we are simply sales people and group us all in one big group does many and great disservice. I always, ALWAYS, put my clients needs above my own.
I should be the norm not the exception, but there you go! And to the individual who worked for Edward Jones......there are better companies to work for.
