I played sro since beta and I can tell you that WoW is far superior to sro, after playing both games for a while..there is no comparison. In game gm's that help you in minutes, INSTANCES, virtualy no begging (mostly due to fact you pay for your account, very little scrubs or losers around). I have been asked for gold a total of twice during my wow career, verses about 10 times a session on sro.
If you want to play a real game, play wow, if you wanna play a korean experiement that happened to be sorta fun..play sro.

Level 80....quit.
Playing World of Warcraft now.....such a better game, it really is amazing how lacking SRO is once you venture out XD

I can understand that you have the choice to pay to get to somewhere faster. Other than that, it isn't pay to play. The very definition of pay to play is to cash out money just to play the game.
It became p2p when premium came up, normal players and paying players are not equal anymore.
You're paying to have a reserve spot just for you. Again. You get the choice to pay or not. In the end, you're still able to get in free to play for free.
Paying for a premium is not required. Comparing to World of Warcraft is: if you want to play, you must pay; no exceptions.
Paying users keep the game up. They pay, they get something in return. Non-paying users get nothing in return, but the paying users pretty much pay the game for them.
It is still a free to play game, but with advantages for the paying user.

honestly, i didnt think id ever see myself typing this, just leave SRO and all the shit associated with that game. WoW is cheaper (if u are a silk buyer), WoW has a better code of ethics (tho depends if you play PvP servers but u have a choice in that), WoW is a better designed game, very balanced (people who say it isnt and say that Warlocks rule teh servers just dont know how to use their class...and yeah im a Warlock :p)
WoW is just win, i'll sit here and dismiss any counter arguement you throw back about SRO being better. Yeah SRO is F2P and someone will always state that argument but the owners ideas of SRO isnt to be providing a game completely free of charge to anyone.
And tbh if i was a parent and in the situation that my children couldnt afford to pay for silk id definately pay for them to play WoW, at least then id know they wasnt playing a game that isnt riddled with the most disgusting habits of scamming, stealing and the downright backstabbing nature of the game that is SRO.

WoW is boring tho...I've played on a few characters tried a few proffesions and got them well past lvl 40...I was bored for the whole time...People say the game doesnt start till your 70 but...w/e its not my kind of game..
Sro was fun even if I didn't get past 40..Grinding sucked...was slow...money was at first hard to get but grinding was actually more fun than it is in WoW

Is there any ppl tht plays sro and alrdy played wow? and why did u change to sro..
A lot of people forget I once played WoW after playing SRO for a year. I switched back (back then) because:
--In WoW, my friends were all on different realms, whereas in SRO all were on Tibet/Pacific, depending on when it was. I think it was Tibet lol, then Pacific later. If all my friends in WoW were on the same realm, no way I would have ever even started SRO in the first place.
--I realized that WoW had a much better chance of addicting me into playing 4 hrs a day than SRO ever would.
--SRO's free, so I can play for just a few minutes to talk to people sometimes, do other stuff the rest of the day, and not feel bad. If you've got a busier schedule, and you don't really care about being capped, SRO is a better deal.
Pros:
WoW has better PvP
WoW has better gameplay
WoW has graphics that actually grow on you, though SRO's are better.
WoW is easier to cap (compared to being legit on SRO).
WoW has good service. Great service actually.
Can always log in.
In short, everything we ask for from Joymax.
Cons:
Graphics are kinda annoying.
Once you cap there is so much more to do! Though that's a good thing at the same time
Pay 2 Play.
If you're willing to pay $15 a month and have some friends on a realm in WoW, I'd consider switching.
@Roflcopter I disagree. My mate and I have this mage (mainly him), and he is excellent at lvl 60 Battlegrounds. In fact, usually only twinks can kill him. Guess what one class can kill him everyday that's not a twink? With Fear, Howl of Terror, Deathcoil....like 8 different things that make you unable to atk, along with DoTs.....omg Noobcoil is so unbalanced how can that be balanced??!?!??!?!! -.-
Other than that yeah warlocks are ok. Just take away Noobcoil and we'll all be fine and dandy.

Thanks AAzumak for the awesome sig!!!

This is one of reasons why I hate Wow and lot of people I know do and still prefer other games over Wow. Some dont like how it looks(like a farking cartoon), some simply cant stand games with elves or whatever there still is. That is why I hate people saying go play wow its so much better, some simply cant understand that there are people who do not like that kind of games. Lol, Fly's post was perfect example.
About pvp, I still dont get how someone can say it has better pvp, If you consider running and jumping around pvp then yes maybe. Even though sro dont have much skills involved, pvp is made much better and better looking skills and so on. Want pvp really based on character building and skills go play 9Dragons.

Based on what you said, i don't think you have ever played WoW before. There is more then jumping and running around (jumping is there for the pure enjoyment of hopping up and down, it has nothing to do with the outcome of pvp). You have to move around strategically and cast spells or skills, instead of sro where you stand in one spot and spam buttons and occasionally grasswalk phantom. And about the graphics, i dont care how they look as long as the game is fun. Until Sro fixes their flaws, i think WoW is a better game.
Although the only reason i came back to this game was because my timecard ran out and I didnt feel like paying for it anymore.

Spoiler!
WoW:
- Party system is far superior. With 40 man Raid Party, Raiding instances and raiding the opposing faction, towns is fun. Castle Seige or the like is build into the PvP System. Like Horde raiding Stormwind.
- The PvP does takes skills. There is 2 MINUTE POT DELAY. If you use mana pot, you have 2 minutes before you can use health pot and vice versa.
- Each class has numerous different types of skills from 3 trees, except for Warrior (2). Knowing when to use when is crucial is a fight.
- Play style is very different from situation. Instance Raiding, Raiding opposing faction, 1 v 1 duel and Arena PvP, you fight differently all of those situations.
- Its not just jumping. Ex. You're a rogue fighting a mage. If you jump over the mage in the opposite direction he's casting, his skill will be canceled, since you have to face in the direction of your opponent to cast skill. If you are rogue again and sprint away, his spell will be canceled again, as it will no longer be in range.
- Almost no two people are alike. So many different types of gears. And infinite number of ways you can spec your character
- Average Age of WoW is 28. Average age of SRO is 13. Another reason to play WoW.
Why do I play SRO:
- Gets boring after you play for a few months. You need a break.
- Animated Skills. WoW is pretty boring. Like when a warrior uses skills and when he is just hacking and slashing, I can't tell the difference.
- Despite SRO's point and click and smash the keyboard. I like it, its relaxing. Mindless. I don't have to be constantly worrying about my HP / MP and thinking of what skill to use next.
- After work or school, sometimes I just want an easy simple game to play.

This is like going to a WoW forum and asking which is a better game, silkroad or WoW.
To the thread starter: Try to do some research of how many players are there in both games and base your judgement from there.

It just depends on a player's taste...
Some people like WOW, mostly hardcore blizzard fans and lore/fantasy enthusiasts (Dungeons and Dragons Nerds) probably would prefer something like wow over any game...
For someone like me, SRO is like the perfect mix of what I'd love to have in games... It's just sad that it's completely and utterly mismanaged...
Anyway, a few months or a year or so from now, it won't really matter, there's always gonna be something better...
Edit: Uhmm... WOW has over 9million Subscribers.. Haha! Imagine if they didn't have to hire as much GMs as it have...

Are you insane.
You obviously are.
Anyways.
WoW > SRO: over all gameplay.
WoW > SRO: GFX
WoW > SRO: PVP duh.
WoW > SRO: Company who actually cares about the players more than the game, and try to make the game actually fun than wasting your time in front of a computer grinding 12 hours a day just to get to in....in 1 year.
WoW > SRO: Quests LOL. anyone who's played WoW will agree with me on this one.
WoW > SRO: basically wow is just a better game. But this is pretty fun as well lol.
WoW > SRO: Actual players that play the game. WoW has way more. and 80%+ are happy with the game.
WoW > SRO: Gm's who actually play/do their job/do stuff besides server notices/etc.

Just a small example. Not all of WoW is about instances.

I have never played WoW before, but i am really tempted to. Once i turn 18 and legally become an adult ( only a month and a bit now ) i will get a Credit Card and probably play it.
I have 5 real life friends who all have played both sro and wow. Every single one of them have quit sro for wow and never come back. In their opinions it is much better, without a doubt in their mind.
I also know someone else online who use to play sro when i 1st started. Back in early 2006 we played togethor for probably 6 months. He later quit sro and moved onto wow. Then late this year he came back to sro due to no money for wow. Within a week he quit and uninstalled sro and found the money for wow.
So based on what people around me think, wow is much better without a doubt.

played sro for two years (since open beta. i remembered this forum, everyone was twitching to play again after getting to play during Christmas). played wow for 10 days trial and i now have retail.
things SRO has over WoW:
-skill animations: GSM, blader dances, rogue's attacks, nuke animation are real eye candy, enough to lighten up any level 1's eyes when you see cape pvp outside jangan. i like making grinding vids with house music in the background. i don't think i would make a WoW grinding vid, skills animations are too blah!
-SROforums: used to be my newspaper with my coffee when i wake up and before i go to bed coz it has all kinds of funny people like blackfox. also coz it's small. SRO.net forums on the other hand is dirty. although SROforums is not really JM's in the first place.
-SRO rogues: WoW rogues are nerfed right now, hopefully they change that when WoTLK arrives. although SRO rogue skills seems to be based from WoW rogues.
-my best time with SRO was when i was level 1-10. the trees were awesome, BGM along teh yeowa's and bandits stuck in my head for weeks even while im at work. after playing SRO, no other game provided me teh "WOW' i got from SRO.
WoW has over SRO:
-community: WoW has an overall better community, and not because of pleveling/leeching coz there is no leeching in WoW. (which brings me to the next point)
-forum: you will never see a "which one is better WoW or SRO" thread. people at the forums are contented and respect both GM's and Blizzard, although im still annoyed at the massive rogue nerf.
-leveling: leveling is actually fun and not mind numbing. quests jsut does not end with "slaying" quests. you have gathering quests, you have elite hunting quests where after killing a number of normal mobs, you have to kill a mini boss, my favorite is escort quest where you walk with an NPC from town to town protecting him from occasional mobs, intances, (omg instances!)
-pvp: skill based then guild/group based then gear based. WoW has BG. you do not need to be capped to have fun with pvp. there is actuallly a reason to pimp your level 19 character. SRO, you pimp your level 69 char just to be able to grind efficiently at nachals.
-logging in: server traffic? no client DC's there's queuing (sp?) hell even if you get DC from teh game, WoW client would still wait there tenderly for you to log in again. (i lol'd on that one)
-lore: SRO triangle conflict is unique, but WoW has one big story line and each race's story intertwines on around it. (although im not an RPG player, i just like it when NPC's tell stories, and actually talk! lol!)
-jumping! need i say more?
-also for those who dislike the GFX especially with the characters, go with blood elves, they were teh ones that finally drew me into the game. teh female dance was based loosely on Britney Spear's "toxic" mtv. the make sin' dorei's dance pwns!
-there's a lot more with WoW, but the best one would be: Stacie is playing WoW instead of SRO, only he's alliance AFAIK.
you play what you want, especially with friends. whether WoW or SRO, as long as you are still catching yourself getting wide eyed with awe on either the level 51 blade chain skill, or simply riding a giant bat across a newly discovered flight path, you are where you should be. stop looking over at the other side of teh fence.

I hope that was a joke, in WoW you need real skills to win a pvp battle, fully pimped items wont help you at all, if your opponent knows how to fight.
some ppl argue with me tht wow>sro in gfx.. STFU NOOB lol sro owns wow in gfx alot imo. But in the other hand, sro's pvp is absolutely gay. Why? Cuz u dont need skills to be good in pvp, only good gear! =(
getting good gear also requires skills my friend
