Because its corporations and they have divested themselves and can afford the loss on the TV business to choke out the writers. Its better anyway because all the writing talent has switched to the Internet for the outlet you just need to know where to go to find it (for internet addicted people like me I have all kinds of new input). People are only interested in Reality shows anyway and the corps know it. My opinion - the writers guild is weak and will lose. People will cross the line to make a living because the demand is there.
