Locked Status on Rome bet
I could care less about the bet, silly anyway. But, the question was never answered about the origin of the artwork used in RuYi's sig. I am only interested because I want to know what is cool to do and what aint. If someone wants to pm me to discuss it that would be understood and appreciated. I'm just getting started and don't want to waste time or take undue risk....tnks guys
p.s. dont bust my chops about location, the original topic emerged under guild/clan so Im keeping it here.

Yes, I found the image of Jora on the Guild Wars website.
I originally wanted this image for the signature, but my computer crashed and I lost that file.
After that I decided to use the same image that you see in the banner for both the avatar and the signature.
Made a print screen and cut out the character and then started creating the background in Photoshop CS2.
About what's cool and what ain't: Just make it look like you want, reguardless of what's cool at the moment or what others like. After all, it's your signature.
That should answer your question.

Jora is one of the heroes you can unlock in Guild Wars, she is for Eye of the North only. Lvl 20 Warrior and stands 9 ft tall, as she's a Norn.
I played Guild Wars since it came out and got all the games of it, but no character impressed me so much as Jora, I think she's really cool, and on top of that she's really handy to have in your party.
Guild Wars uploaded several wallpapers featuring Jora, you can find them here. I think she looks really cool and she definitely fits in with the theme of Eye of the North.
About sigs, I don't consider myself that good. Of course I'm pleased with the results of my sigs, though I never had the patience to sit down and make tutorials and learn all the techniques that others do.
If there's a render I like, I usually have a bit of an idea of how I want the background to look like, and I just fool around and try things until I'm pleased with it.
The original idea for this sig was a blue background instead of this one.
Also, the 'rays of light' you see, aren't really rays of light. Those are bubbles from water I created when I was still working on the blue background stuff. I figured I could still use them and altered them somewhat.

If you didn't got the answer you wanted, form your sentences in a clearer and more decent way so nobody will misunderstand you.
I honestly don't see what's so difficult about that question, unless you again formed in a way we all managed to misunderstand it.
In sigs you can use what you want as long as you edited, ie you didn't just copied someone elses sig and shamelessly write your name on it and claim it yours.

Good grief. I didn't flame anyone for not understanding what I had asked. Why the defensive attitude? The key words in my original question were "origin" and "risk". I am sorry if I didn't make myself clear. The title of the post was "Copywrite". Seems clear enough to me. However, I will strive to communicate better and keep my comments and questions simple. But RuYi did deliver the answer I sought. If you edit it, which is the nature of what we do here, then your safe. Do I have that correct? Thanks a bunch...

I figured from your post that you wanted to know where I got the images for my sig from, and the cool thing, I thought it was for the styles used, since you never mentioned anything related to copyright.
Anyways, yes, if you got a render and give your own twist to it, so that it doesn't look like you just copied something from someone else.

Thanks RuYi. I'm good ta go now. But...that blonde babe, once you've seen here in that series of art she kinda sticks in your mind hehe. She's got that "girl next door" kinda look. I knew her when I saw her in your sig. Woooot! I just got a copy of Elements. It will at least get me started on layering and texturing it seems. Maybe later I can move up to a more involved program. By the way, I can d/l extra brush and font sets to use with that prog. Right?

I saw her in the concept art first, then at the high res renders as the image I used in my sig. The ingame version of her isn't as high quality, and I was somewhat dissapointed, but then again, it's a character that should help you in the game and an ultra high res version of it would only slow down the game.
Her voice is a bit too deep for my liking, but then again it suits the Norn, being 9ft tall tough people.
About the brushes and fonts, I'm pretty sure you can load them into Elements. I don't use the program myself though, my Dad works with it for his photo's (He's a professional photographer), but in my eyes it's just a really cheap ass version of Photoshop minus half the abilities Photoshop has.
