"Mild" Racism...

Seems to be extremely common in my school. Well, I've had suspicions about it, but then the topic came up at lunch with my asian, and 2 white friends ( in an almost all white school )

Jack, the asian guy, has said lots of stupid things before- Mexicans are inheritly dumb, black people are only good for sports, and that asians and whites are on the same page, but that asians were better at math. There stereotypes, he honestly believes them with a furry. Usually we bitch about this over msn, and I've gotten sick of it, so I stopped trying.

Anyways, he said something that really really hit my nerve. Well, more like an open question to the group... "Do you believe that africans are inferior to whites?", so I responded, "Do you?" and he said "Hell yeah". Then I said "Im sorry, but the biological differences between races are so insignificant and almost non existant that I'm going to have to say that I don't agree with you", and he gave me a look as if I said something eternally stupid. So my other friend, one of the white ones, "John" said "Of course, just like Mexicans, you don't see any geniuses or millionaires coming from there" and I honestly snapped, I can't believe they actually thought this.

My only response was, "I honestly can't eat my lunch with a group of racists" and walked off. Note, I am Serbian, Armenian, Turkish, and Central-European, born in Serbia, and I know what it's like to be looked at like the shit of the world. I work with a lot of people of different races, theyre all hard working, aiming for college, have families, etc...

So, is modern day racism, or, racial supremacy coming back? Or is it just the emergence of stupid, sheltered teenagers who know nothing?

Anyway... i think most people (specially teenagers) need to feel they are better than others to attempt suceed in life: "i can do it because i'm better than this or that person". Unfortunately, racism is the easiest way to do that.

It's probably is either their families, the media they have contact with or maybe they only know like one person from that country/race and they like to generalize (not sure if that word is correct ).

I guess it's time to look for some better "friends" hehe.

I find that most racism evolves in heavily populated or integrated schools. I've went to a highschool freshmen year where the population was 3800-4000 people. Everyday it would be N1gga this n1gga that. Or Chink or spick and stuff like that tossed around... We didn't use it as negative terms(some people did, kids getting their asses kicked)...We used it to identify each other..

Nowadays I go to a very white school (only 3 black/african-american kids in the whole school). The school population is about 700..less than that. People freak out if you say the word n1gga...whether it be a rap song or anything. It was pretty hard to get used to it but w/e...

I think if you do that you'll save alot of lives and throughly changed the course of human history toward a more peaceful outcome. Technology would've evolved alot slower but eventually we'd be where we are today....
