Work-Around for Silkroad 1.023

Post by banzaimonkey »

Thanks go to Shoonwho told us all about this on the flash chat. Thanks, Shoon!

Before you begin, beware that this is a work-around, not a solution. If you don't feel comfortable following this guide, please wait for an official patch.

First, open the Control Panel. You can easily do this by going to Start Menu > Run, and typing "Control Panel" (Without quotes). Press enter to open the Control Panel.

Once the Control Panel is open, open the Regional Settings dialog.

This can be found under:

Classic View
Regional and Language Options

Category View
Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options > Regional and Language Options

Once you have the dialog open, proceed to the second tab, call Languages and verify that Install files for East Asian Languages is checked. Note: If it is not checked, you will need to get your Windows installation disk and then check the box. If it is checked, skip ahead to the blue section.

Image

You may need to restart your computer.

Once you have installed the East Asiand Languages package (or if it is already installed) proceed to tab three, Advanced. Here, you will need to select Korean from the drop-down list and then click Apply.

Image

You will need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect, but once you do you should be able to run Silkroad 1.023

I think someone said at the official Silkroad forum that it didn't work, but I'm sure as hell gonna try it anyway. ;) Thanks. :)

I think I'll pass. Hopefully you're now distracted by SRO and have forgotten your proposal. :P

Is there just as much lag on the other servers? I click on the ground and a second or two later my character moves... :(

No lag here, running very smooth actually. Do you have other apps opened (like SRforum chat)? Also, if that is not the problem, check your "shadow settings" in game. That seems to be a major cause for most people with video lag. Make sure it's not on detailed. Set it to either circle or nothing.

This is the first time I'm experiencing such a huge continous lag spike of 1-3 minutes.

EDIT: GREAT ANOTHER UPDATE.

I worked.

But the lag on Xian is horrible. I think they are doing something to correct the problem.

Finished quest, and set up stall. Can't bear to play.

Go buy nice 32 glavie / spear from me cheap :D :D

Yes, if you didnt install those languages at installation time.

Not a prob for me; got almost every win addition on CD.

If your computer was store bought, and you don't have a CD, sometimes the OEM supplier copies these files to the hard drive.

When your computer prompts for the location, try C:\I386.

or c:\windows\i386

These are generic files so you can copy the .cab foles from a friend if theyre running the same version of windows.

You shouldn't need to do this anymore.

In any case, whatever you do to your computer is your responsibility.
