IMO it like botting, even when all people may say it's not.
It's a simple analogy
When you are botting you lvl up without your effort and when you are are plvled you lvl up withou your effort. So? what's the difference? Is someone else, it doesn't matter if it's human or robot, doing your job.
Get real! Get legal!

im not even going to read the replies.
Put it this way. When joymax added pt mobs as" a way for euros to party lvl" do we think they were dumb enough to not realize the conciquences of this. Obvcourse they knew people will get plvled....
and so people are ....lol
Its basically an open legal unlegit method of lvling.
JOYMAX handed it to us on a plate..
cheers.

Yes powerlvling is annouying when I see people(like Lanaya) being powerboted on the ice for two months by painstaken. They globaled when she hit 1 mill skill points. I didnt see her after that when I moved into the caves but guess what I saw her yesterday at southgate dw lvl 80 pvping. Not three weeks ago did I see her in her 40s on the ice now lvl 80 overfarmed, wtf?
This powerbotting is so far out of control seriously.

my opinion is whats the differnce if you bot or plvl, both ways you are gaining xp and not working for it, most people plvl by putting someone on trace and then just watch their pots or horses hp, which is no differnt then babysitting your character while he bots, by plvling you still dont earn the xp your self, its just a legal way of botting which is gaining xp when you dont have to work for it. Justify it anyway you want but you still didnt earn the xp on your own so whats the differnce, its just a legits way of justifing lvling free of effort without using a bot. I think the TRUE definiation of a ligit is someone that earned every xp point on their own.

Laughing wrote:Case in point, when I played Guild Wars, if you didn't get power leveled or rushed to get the strongest armor, you were already 2 steps behind, as most of the people who participated in the low level PvP had armor and weapons much stronger than yours.
That's unfortunately a side effect of lazy people always trying to take shortcuts. True, low level arenas (at least in the Prophecies campaign) aren't that fun anymore due to "runners" and the lack of level requirement on armor, yet it's far from an accurate picture of the whole Guild Wars pvp experience... And twinks aren't a new thing either.
Anyway, back to topic. I'm going to disagree with soulreapr.
As long as it's a live player PLing you in my opinion it's legit, because you're using in-game mechanics, implemented by the developers. On the contrary, as soon as a third party program (i.e. bot) gets into the picture, this isn't legit since AFAIK you're going against the terms of the end-user agreements.
Unlike bots, live players need to eat/sleep/take potty breaks etc. Kinda obvious but that means they are at least partly active, and they don't clog the servers 24/7.
In the case where the low level simply sticks to the PLer on follow and goes AFK for an extended period of time, following the same logic, it's still legit... Only pretty lame I'd say.
If you have a friend helping you skip some grinding and are happy with that, good for you. I wouldn't do it myself for the shear enjoyment of the achievement when reaching a new level by my own means, but whatever floats your boat.
One thing to remember though... SRO falls into the MMO category, which, something that quite a large portion of the community seems to forget, stands for Massively Multiplayer. Translation, you guys are not alone... Some people still do it the old fashioned and somehow tedious way, they absolutely DO NOT find it fun when a spawn area gets whiped in a matter of seconds, or when half of the mobs turn into the party flavour.
Please remember that, thank you.

The point of the game is to lvl (80% of game) (10% trading/pvping)(10% having fun talking to friends and trying your luckk to + items)
Its as simple as If your to lazzy to lvl then dont play at all!
I have been playing game 2 years 30-3 hrs a day mabey 10 hrs a week max
and im lvl 75 allso if you get plvled or bot you wont feel acompilsehed or even enjoy the game.

I was playing at Mujigis, some pwleveler decided I have no right to be there, went forward a bit, another pwleveler. Rest is full of gold bots. FUN.
Why can't those losers level up by their own ? it's Farking faster than a bot now.And wow a player does it, he either owns money for that or 'helps friends' by ruining the game for others.
It also ruins the 1-40 economy BIG TIME. The whole 4 first cities are EMPTY.
Thanks powerleveling.
I couldn't agree more! +13432149879
Power leveling is certainly not illegal, but it was never intended to be part of the game. Joymax didn't intend to have every single person sit on a horse from lvl 1 to 64 while a lvl 80 grinds for them.
Yes, there's an 11 level max gap to get the best experience, but that is there so if you are in an 8-man party you can handle the higher level mobs, especially if you have a good team with a healer and such.
I'm just glad I am a blader with knockdown skills. If some high level tries to KS me so he can power level, I just knockdown the mobs. Doesn't always work, but it did on a lvl 64 glavier that thought he owned the mujigi field.
Foloroth wrote:They should REALLY make a level distance limit in parties, like I saw in a lot MMO's.
Anyone agrees on this one ?
They have a distance limit for exp auto share. A limit is not needed for exp distribution.
Mrs. Santa wrote:I would say yes it's legit. I mean joymax did make it to be legal. And there's not nearly as many plvlers as botters.
They did? How so? Not because of the +11 level gap in parties for max experience. Why do you think euros are 'overpowered' and have clerics? Get an 8-man party with people that know what they are doing, and you can go grinding on higher level mobs to get better exp.
I can grind solo (carefully) on mobs 11 levels higher than me. In a party, it would be SO much easier!

i have to agree with this too. Would say it goes beyond lvl 40 economy but it is probably worse at 1-40 like you said. This is to me the biggest problem that pleveling cause. At least botters still need gear to level, though they cause more problems as a whole.Foloroth wrote:Powerlevelers ruin everything for people who actually train ON MONSTERS THEIR LEVEL, BY THEIR OWN.They KS the shit out of you and you can't train anywhere.

Impossible grinding areas are still a problem at 60-70 monsters.
The heart of this game is now lost even among people who are legit, but finds it much easier to let someone else do all of their work. Everything circles around being at the level cap and fully farmed today. The journey is lost. So are the small goals and the personal achievements.

And all those people here supporting powerleveling because they themself do it so much.
Thanks for ruining SRO even more
And what I meant was that a (example) lvl 80 guy can party only down to level 69,so there won't be a possibility to powerlevel, and the level 69 can party both up to 80 and down to 48 (11 level differences).

That's for sure. Prices for gear really dropped a lot after euro came out and everyone started power leveling.
A few months before euro, I bought a decent 52+5 SOS blade for 53 million. A little pricey at the time, but now similar blades seem to sell for 35 million or so. I keep stalling a 52+3 sos blade with some blues for 30 million, but no one buys it.
Bought a 42 SOS blade pre-euro for 30 mil, sold it for 12 mil. Why buy gear when you can sit in lvl 1 gear on a horse until lvl 64 :/

Not a bad idea, but they'd need to lift that limit for job parties. Otherwise a lvl 20 trader could only get a lvl 31 hunter.
If they lift the restriction, then people will power level in job suits. :/

ok, let me tell you guys how it is. joymax wants powerleveling, thats why it is built into the game. without powerleveling high levels would never change servers when a new server came out, when they change servers they buy more silk. its a simple money making strategy. now whether it is "Legit" or not, ill have to say that anything you do within the mechanics of the official game would obviously have to be legit. thats they way they want it played.

FACE IT.
this is my predication..
every item 1-40 is going to cost..10 gold..and something rubbish.
lv1 elements will be free.
All the bots will get sos..and so sun.and som that joymax will run ouf of giving it.
Every powerlever in will be on lv80 well higher since the cap is coming and become thieves.
Lags will kill the people who aren `t power leving.
Sos ,so sun and som will be impossible to sell.
Uniques will be impossible to hunt
job become redudant
Leving alone will be redudant soon chinese will be like euros
There is nothing we can do....
The day thoses problems will vanish is the day england wins the world cup.

"Power Leveling Just as Bad as Botting?"
So boting its bad? why? u cant afford?
If u dont wanna use bot it not my problem, nobody stops u
What i hate and what everybody should hate are begegrs and scammers ( i dont think botters beg for plvl or gold, majority of scammers are "legits" )
I liked this forum. Many guildes, ppl helping each other buy when i see ppl saying that boting its bad, plvl its bad makes me go nuts
This is a silkroad forum or a bot forum wtf. In my opinion mods shuldnt let this kind of topics
some facts
90% of any server BOT
9% of any server are ppl who dont bot with low chars ( they have low lvl chars on few servers... thats crazy)
1% are are high lvl who dont bot
and yea i BOT and i dont give a **** (i wanted to say only this but i was bored and had to write more

Sorry about making another topic. I'm new here and didn't see any around.. I did a search, but the results had nothing to do with what I was looking for. =P
I rarly ask for power leveling though, I think leveling myself is more fun, or with a party. =)
dont feel bad hun.
and indeed, leveling by yourself is so much fun than being plvled all the time.
I got a 73 cleric (99% almost 74), and i love going and help people in parties and kill and etc etc.
There's this friend who always ask me to come to a plvling party (he botting at generals) and he sits his other char to get exp. Ok that's boring.
As far as i know, games are meant to have a good and fun time.
Cant deny i've joined his parties once in a while, but after 5 or 10 minutes of sitting there and do nothing. I just leave the party and join a grinding one, or help my friends and guildies.
Now i made a new char, just for giggles (a rogue one), and i DO plvl it. A friend pwfarm it for me (along with his two other chars). And now that is farmed already, i take it and plvl it all the time, by myself. I made an academy and added it so i can get points.
plvling is legal as long as you keep it legal (dont bot yourself).

I was having an arguement with someone who botted before. They said that since I didn't get all of my exp. by myself that I wasn't legit either and that it was just as bad as botting. I don't know about that.. I mean, I haven't even been power leveled that much, maybe one or two levels at most. I didn't really know what to say in my defense.
Is power leveling really that bad? Can I still consider myself legit? =/
Just pick an answer.
