Anyone here who is good at math ?

I have a funny equation:

x = y

x + x = x + y

2x = x + y

2x - 2y = x + y - 2y

2(x - y) = x + y - 2y

2(x - y) = x - y

2(x - y) = 1(x - y)

2 = 1

So what went wrong?
I know this is pretty old, but still, it's fun.

You divided by 0.

I remember a sub-teacher did this kind of thing one day for us. (our teacher wasn't there that day). think one person figured it out....
but taught us the listen of dividing by zero

edit: this was during 9th grade btw.
