Scrub ba dub dub

Post by fena »

I love to rub.

Guys, I have a problem, and I have no idea how to rectify it. Yes, I've googled about it, but no, I don't dare ask my friends. They'll think I'm some sort of clothes-freak, which I'm not.
And my mom would probably just get offended.

The past two months, I haven't been letting my mom wash my clothes. TBH with you, I haven't washed my clothes at all, really. Before you scream with fright, I'm not a dirty person. I always wear a wifebeater or whatever you call it underneath, and I wear two a day - one in the morning, until I hit third period Wrestling. After Wrestling and a shower, I change into a new one. I'm quite meticulous about my clothes, and they never get dirty - no ketchup stains, no hot dog chunks. On top of that, I'm one of those guys where it takes a hell of a lot to make sweat. I live in Texas, and even if I'm walking outside in 95-degree weather for two hours, I'll get a dab of sweat on my forehead, and that's literally it. I don't get that big puddle on my chest like those men I see jogging around at 2:00 in the afternoon.
I'm a clean guy, overall. My clothes never smells bad, and every morning, I put on some cologne as well.

Why aren't I washing my clothes? It always farking shrinks. I don't know how to keep it from shrinking when I wash it. It's not like I'm wearing some obscure little Nigerian brand that no one's heard of. All my clothes are Hollister and Aeropostale and American Eagle (yes, I'm a grade-school student), so I don't think the quality's a problem.
How do I keep my clothes from shrinking, so I can freely wash it, and not have to worry about only being able to wear it twice before it becomes too small for me?

Bleach? No bleach? Cold water? Hot water? Dryer? Ahh. Girls, help me here! Guys too.

NO I'M NOT A FREAK AHH

I do. All they ever say is, "Machine wash cold." I do that. I set my washing-machine on cold, dump in some bleach, set it on normal, and away it spins.
Then I throw it in the dryer.
Then the buzzer rings.
I take it out, and it's one size smaller.

There's your problem. Expensive/designer shit does that, no matter what.

Get some regular old Wal-Mart or Target clothes.

I wear the same brands. Mine don't really shrink that much, ofcourse if it says 100% cotton you'll get very small shrinkage first time you wash it. But definately pop it in on Cold. On my washing machine it says Cold/cold Cold/warm Warm/warm. Something along those lines. So maybe if yours is similar make sure it isn't cold/warm. I put my stuff on the lowest (delicate) in the dryer. I don't know what setting you use on your dryer but maybe you could give that a shot.

Edit: I wouldn't use bleach, unless its non-chlorine. Or unless it says you can on the tag, but i think for the most part it says non-chlorine bleach only.

firstly...yuck at the not washing your clothes thing

secondly just buy clothes a bit bigger, especially if you KNOW they are going to shrink. I haven't mastered the art of clothes washing but i always buy my shirts a size larger cause i know they're going to shrink. Its got something to do with the fabric i dunno what but just buy a size up, let it shrink, then your free to wash it as many times as you want without shrinking

lastly this could be the weirdest theory but what if your growing at an accelerated rate that you only notice after you put on clothes that have been recently washed..probably due to nuclear fallout brought on my testing to build atomic supermen with lazer cannon on there chest...yes...oh my yes...don't we all dream of a future where blah blah blah blah.....

Dont use a dryer to dry your clothes. I find that always shrink some of mine :/. Just hang dry them on a clothesline or similar.

For starters what temperature are you washing your clothes at? I know you said cold, but different material have different temperatures. Second, what are the clothes made from polyester, cotton, wool, nylon.. Ahh the list goes on..

All fabrics have some shrinkage after washing.. But some have more then others.

Also what washing powder have you been using??

Have you tried hand washing, in warm water? Then hanging them out to dry.

I've worked with soft furnishing fabric (not always different from clothing) for the last 8 years, and always find that people do some stupid stuff while washing..

plz tell me you wash your own clothes crump cause you've got to be over 18 probably over 20....and it shouldn't take 20 years on this planet to become self sufficient enough to put clothes in a machine that does all the work for you...

First of all.
Clothes tend not to shrink after their first washing.
Some clothes never shrink because they're prewashed to prevent it.

If you fear something will shrink: wash it at 30°-40° (that's Celsius) and don't tumbledry them. Tumbledry = the shrinking enemy.
Just put some socks in them and you'll see the evil bastard doing it's work.

Most things however can be thrown in the dryer unless they're risky before washing: if it barely fits, then you should stay away from the dryer.

BTW my mom does most of my washing due to me being to lazy to do it. That doesn't mean I never do them. But she does all of the washing. It would be fairly stupid if 6 people needed to do all their washing separately, it would take ages for me to get red clothes washed.

Cotton tees and stuff I buy one size larger cuz I know their gonna shrink.

They ALWAYS do.

Everything wash on cold like everyone said

Then delicate dry (low heat.)

Even then jeans might be tight for the first day or a shirt might shrink a little (one size up)

Designer shirts nike etc.... always ruin over time. If you really love em, yeah. Dont wash em often and hang them to dry if you can.

Specially stuff with raised letters.

Drying with the dryer usually shrinks things.

Wash your shirts in cold water, rinse in cold, and go hang them in your backyard.
DID YOU KNOW? Milly has retired!!!!
