We should be arguing about how botting and powerleveling are the same:

Botting - you got high level without doing anything.
power leveling - you got high level without doing anything.

Because botting=illegitimate and powerleveling=legitimate are something we can all agree on.

And for StacE's scenario about the clerics giving buffs to the "powerleveler," that's not powerleveling anymore since you did something for the sake of the party. It would turn into party-grinding in this case. At least that's what I think.

It wouldn't matter if the powerleveler is a botter or not. My point here is by getting powerleveled, you get to a desired level that you didn't attain. It's not about someone spending their own time powerleveling you, it is how you reached that level without you doing anything.

Personally, I think powerleveling is totally legitimate and at the same time totally unfair. I think it's unfair for the level 64+ euros that handgrinded their own character all by themselves. Why? Well look at it this way. Suppose you have a 100% handgrinded character level 64 and somebody that you know is level 52. Two weeks later that person gets to level 64 and you barely get to 66. Of course you would be like "WTF
?!" the moment you realize that he/she almost reached your level. This is where "unfairness" kicks in.

Your argument against his argument is that by simply stating A=C then B=C is a complaint over oversimplification. To call the statement ignorant would mean that the original statement did not include the amount of knowledge necessary to make that statement. However Prom's statement is not ignorant and in no way shows that he lacks knowledge on the subject therefore it cannot be ignorant because he clearly knows what he was talking about. The statement is best described as vague or over simplified because he does not back it up with details or supporting facts and simply lets the statement hang. A = C <---- in his argument this is implied. It is this relationship, namely that A =C, that makes his argument fallacious. Again murder doesnot equal heart attack . In a similar sense botting does not equal powerleveling. there are cases where the relationship is va;id but generally speaking teh two are NOT equivalent. hopefully i got through to you.

This is called the standard form of an argument. If you pick up a highschool level logic course book you will find this in first/second chapter. i don't see how that is vague. please enlighten me why its vague?


also to debate my use of the word ignorant, i will bring up the issue of racism. Racism is considered ignorant by many...because to be racist mean to not possess the knowledge to see that we are all the same, we are all human beings (skin color is not important blabla...and the whole equality spiel.)

In a similar light the person who posted the argument is ignorant because he categorizes botting and powerleveling as the same when they are not the same thing... he lack knowledge... his initial statement lacks knowledge. In other word the basis of his argument is in itself a fallacy.

All I can say is your example of murder vs. heart attack is flawed. Murder is something you do to someone else. Heart attack is something that happens to you. You can't compare them in that regard. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Yes, they have the same outcome, death, but that doesn't mean that a person that has a heart attack is "bad" because a person that murders is "bad".

On the other hand, botting and power leveling are both things that you do. You choose to do both things, and both things end in the same result.

So I think my argument still stands that power leveling is just like botting. Botting is illegal, power leveling is not illegal, but both are things that YOU choose to do and both have the same result.

I don't consider someone bad or evil because the power level. I just find it unfair to the rest of us, just like I find botting unfair as well.

semantic and mathematics are the similar.. in that both must follow similar rules. in a straight forward argument like prometheus' there is only mechanics...there is no vagueness of semantics. his argument is too simple to be vague.

Powerlvling is dependant of Point of View. Either you and your group allow it, either it doesn't. It's really up to the people you are playing with. Stop racing for levels and everyone play thte game so that it is enjoyable k? Do it for yourself.

There are arguments on how unfair it can be to other players.

Like I said on my post, there are arguments FOR and arguments AGAINST. What you posted is something that both parties agree, but we cannot get to a conclusion no matter how hard we try, because both sides' arguments are justified and can't be taken down. The only one that can give us the final word is Joymax, but that won't be happening (probably).

Hakubi isnt accusing , i was pwrlvld by very high lvl , well known botters. Were they botting at the time? Who knows? Who cares? Not me. There was never any secret. As i said in the other post , its totally meaningless. My credit score is the same , my fridge is still full and my bills are paid.

I wasnt kicked out lol. Perhaps you should ask around , i went in union chat and announced i was quitting the union and my guild. Ask the GM of ROC , I quit and 4 other guys quit with me. None of us enjoyed being in that union. And it had nothing to do with the powrlvl , PE union has a condescending , arrogant way to some of its leaders. I chose not to play with them. Get your facts straight before you make ignorant statements
