What has pwr lvl'ing got to do with not being 'legit'

I dont understand what being pwr lvl'd has got to do with not being legit. Ive seen this mentioned various times over the past few weeks. Yes perhaps if said person got pwr lvl'd by someone who was 'afk' then i can see where the problem arises, but still, the person not using the 3rd party programme is not actually breaking the rules.

The way the exp share system works and the exp penalty for the lvl gaps shows that its perfectly acceptable for someone to be pwr lvl'd. I honestly dont understand what its got to do with not being legit, maybe im wrong and id like people to make their point without de-railing the entire thread and rinsing out the same old discussion.

I just want to discuss the issue of being pwr lvl'd. The game mechanism allows it, so whats the big deal?

Nothing, it's perfectly normal and every mmoprg has some kind of powerleveling.
Stronger players helping weaker ones to level faster.... no cheats or bots or whatever.

every1 has a different meaning for legit.

some people get pissed and maybe a li'l jealous when they know someone who was plvled from 1-70 w/o spending as much time as a normal person who grinded himself would spend.

it's all about personal preference

i myself dun really care, so for me, plvl = perfectly legit.

Hmm i dont see how its unlegit :roll:

Jm added academy for a reason so you could power level lower level people in your academy to get honor points to buy honor items its down to main player if they want to spend there time power leveling people.

People who think its not legit is because they dont have any high level buddys who can power level them so they are just jelous.

Not everyone has anything they want.

True, they don't use any 3rd party junk or anything related to that. That's definitely a good thing, seeing as how much people are botting nowadays.
Though, IMO, it's a rather easy and lazy way to lvl up without spending too much effort.

I see an Academy with the purpose of helping newbies with questions or giving them tips rather than let them waddle after me on a pony.

Everyone who always see screw Silkroad, WoW is the best, etc.

Guess what guys? When I made a WoW account the first thing that happened was some high level players started to power level me........

And in WoW in towns you hear them saying stuff like:

Taking level xx through instance ______ for 1 gold (thats a hell of a lot in WoW especially at low level)

So most good MMORPGs you can be powerleveled in if you have good high level friends willing to take their time to do it.

I have plenty of high level friends that could power level me, and I've received several offers. I always turn them down. The main reason I am against botting (I know this topic isn't about botting, but just making a point) is that botters gain exp and level without doing anything to actually earn it. Someone who botted to a high level, imo, doesn't deserve that level.

If you get yourself power leveled while you sit on a horse or other transport, or otherwise don't do any fighting yourself, and just soak up the exp, you don't deserve your high level. You did nothing to achieve that level.

Botting - you got high level without doing anything.
power leveling - you got high level without doing anything.

It's not just about 3rd party applications or being jealous because I don't have high level friends that can do it. I do have them...

Just my $0.02.

Afaic, legitimacy in this game is way over-emphasized. Yeah, sure it's great if you don't bot, but its nothing for every single players to go crazyemo about. Just relax and take the game in for yourself.

My definition of legit, however, is one who levels without the direct aid of 3rd party bots. Nothing wrong with plvling, it exists in every game where parties are possible.

I already gave my definition of botting and power leveling many times. The point has been made that it is cheating and there is not even a single doubt about that. But yeah, anyone who likes to cheat will say "Oh, they are jealous.. they can't get pl themselves... they don't have money to be pl... blah blah blah...". All of that is pretty shit argument considering that we can all be PL.

But yeah, no matter what I say, a cheater will always try to reassure him or herself that they are doing nothing wrong eventhough they are earning experience doing nothing.

So that this doesn't turn into flaming... I won't post again in this thread as I know it will be totally futile.

Its quite simple. People want their form of justice to be absolute. When in truth, JM defines what is legit and what is cheating. Power leveling is just an alternate way to level up. Many people do not like that change so they compare it to botting. They either have a status quo bias or are under the mere exposure effect.

I dont see it bein cheating / botting of any kind but people do take the piss with it by gettin pwlvl from 1-70 its kind like a free legal bot just haing somone else to do it for u, if you pwlvl like a few lvls i dont see why not

and paying for it wiht ig gold for other random people you dont no its becoming just like these website advertising pwlvling i dont agree with paying for it but if a friend does it for u for a lvl or 2 then no problem

I just don't get how these people continue to whine about this topic. heres how it should go

IF P/L'ER IS BOTTING -> The people getting p/lvled are pretty much botters themselves
IF P/L'ER IS HAND P/L'ING -> It's totally ok. JM did install this system so that people could help others, its not against the TOA

Most people complain because they DONT HAVE FRIENDS that give TWO ****'s about them, and wont take the TIME to powerlvl them.

PLeveling is totally legit unless the PLeveler is a botter. In serveral other games you can find that PLeveling is legit, and allowed. Just look at WoW, there you "boost" players wich means that you both give the most of the exp to the player you are "boosting" AND helping the player with his/hers quest. But of course, many are greedy in WoW and unless they are IRL pals they seldom "boost" eachother, unless they pay

No rules have been broken for the one being powerleveled. Caution when the facilitator is one playing without presence. Ignoring this fact is akin to supporting its actions.

It's part of the game and available for everyone. Nothing wrong with it.
