Vanhalen Black Sabath metal?
Ok some people i know think vanhalen and black sabath arnt metal. what do you think?

well i know those are metal. but those bands are from the 90's +. im talkin more old. wow and your the first person ive met (besides the "people") that didnt think sabath was metal.

Black Sabbath started the metal era kinda the whole black knights that kinda brought that bad 80's metal

lol iron maiden, slayer, and metallica were around much before the 90s.
Black Sabbath IMO is more doom/classic rock (the doom I'm thinking of is off their paranoid record and the song electric funeral)
TBH though, I have a different standard of metal than most. Slayer is definately not metal. Metallica and Iron maiden are hardly metal, though they just make the curve.
Well in the fact that those bands have become real mainstream nowadays i can agree with you. But those bands are metal, even if I think slayer is just an overrated thrash band. Also Iron Maiden has been one of my favorite bands since i first heard them over 4 years ago.

Black sabbath is arguably the first ever metal band, they took rock into metal. Some people think deep purple were the original metal band though, as well as some other bands
Yes, i know they dont really sound much like metal but they were the first bands to show any sign of what metal became in them. Black sabbath dont consider themselves to be metal though, they think they are just rock (they actually got some of their inspiration from blues music) but without bands like them metal wouldnt be where it is today.
