Sorry but that is the most groundless, contradicting comment I have ever heard on SRF.

That's the reason we all have this pollution. -.- That was my point.

global warming doesn't have ne real evidence except for the melting of the polar ice caps. however, Earth is still in the last stages of the last ice age, so we can't really say global warming is caused by humans.

iirc, Earth was a lot warmer than it is now, it could still become warmer.

95% of people who love to talk about how Global Warming is going to be the end of the world are cynical, they give a bad impression on the rest of us.

There's kinda proof for global warming.

The carbon cycle has been going on for like a gagillion years, for life is carbon based (at least in this world).
Anyways, fossil fuels have alooottttttttt of stored up carbon, and humans are using fossil fuels quite alot lately, and are releasing carbon into the atmosphere.

Carbon traps sunrays in the earths environment.

But it doesn't affect it that much. I mean, like in... I forgot the word... Comparison is sort of like it. Anyways, in comparison though, the temperature of the earth has risen rather significantly in the last 100 years.
Usually over billions of years, it kinda flows around slowly, going up and down a bit, but in the last 100 years, it's shot up 1 degree celsius. That isn't very much, but it went up pretty quickly.
It's nothing to worry about though, because like 100 billion years ago, the earths temperature was higher than it is today.

I think global warming is nothing to be concerned about though.
That hole in the ozone however can be bad. But that's only if it gets really huge. Because isn't it over antartica? I remember I heard it was over australia, but I think it's over antartica now. So nobody really gives 2 craps.

It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in [sic] allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the "research" to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

Now, I'd like to hear people's 'excuses'.

There was also a young man that recently proved that last year (and the year before 06 and 05) that they were not the hottest years in history, against nasa's claims. I'l try and fine the sites about that.

Another nail in the coffin for global warming.

It doesn't matter if Global Warming is a scam or not. By being environmentally efficient we would save billions of dollars, create millions of new jobs, help developing countries fast track to the same level as us, and have a reason to start creating political bonds.

Putting a piece of paper in the recycling bin instead of the garbage is something we should all be doing - it requires no extra effort and is morally responsible.

The whole stance of "if Global Warming doesn't exist, i'm going to stop being environmentally responsible" is like the 13 year old kids that try alcohol for the first time and go way overboard because they lack the maturity and self control.

At the same time, planting trees is not the solution. For every unit of energy, if it's renewable there are 5 times the number of jobs made. We need to take the money from the planting of trees and invest it into poorer countries. Picking the low hanging fruit like this is an economic benefit, and it needs to be used by developing countries to assure themselves that they don't develop the horrible industries that we had during the revolution.

Here's a thread that was much more elaborated and worth visiting:

That's where I agree with you dom.

I don't not believe that the world is going to end in 5 years and every shred of ice will be gone.

I do believe however that we should not be so wasteful, throw our garbage in the recycling, etc.

We turn the heat way down every night and also when no one is in the house, and all of our light bulbs are those energy efficient compact florescent bulbs.

It makes me really wonder when I walk by the mall near me and the ground is completly covered in garbage.

Fail.

Jesus wasn't a myth, thanks to the Roman's great bureaucracy we have proof he existed. However, it's a myth that he was the one said to save the Israelites; that is to say, it's a myth he was the son of God, walked on water, etc. Although he must of been someone very charismatic and kind to have been remembered the way he has.

Little Summary of the above link wrote:Another factor might be contributing to the thinning of some of the Antarctica's glaciers: volcanoes.

In an article published Sunday on the Web site of the journal Nature Geoscience, Hugh Corr and David Vaughan of the British Antarctic Survey report the identification of a layer of volcanic ash and glass shards frozen within an ice sheet in western Antarctica.

"This is the first time we have seen a volcano beneath the ice sheet punch a hole through the ice sheet" in Antarctica, Vaughan said.

Volcanic heat could still be melting ice to water and contributing to thinning and speeding up of the Pine Island glacier, which passes nearby, but Vaughan said he doubted that it could be affecting other glaciers in western Antarctica, which have also thinned in recent years. Most glaciologists, including Vaughan, say that warmer ocean water is the primary cause of thinning.

The above + the fact that ice is forming again on greenland. Also the fact that russians scientists just released a report that the earth is cooling down again.

Funny isn't it? Wonder how many of you guys have 'green' electricity.

i saw this documentary once on ufos and how they would go to congress to prove they exist and stuff like that

the spokesmen said that because of their technology we already have a potentially new, clean energy source that can replace oil when it runs out; i believe it's something called zero point energy (go to wikipedia for more info on this energy or just google it)

Are you that short-sighted? Not to be rude here, but c'mon. The effects of global warming are not direct, but indirect, and often compiled. Floods? Droughts? Famine? War over scarce resources caused by all of the above? These have all killed people, and even if you deny that these have YET to kill anyone, there is little doubt that this will change in the future if we keep the "business as usual" approach. And frankly, who ever died of a intercontinental nuclear weapon? No one, but we sure like spending billions of dollars on a "missile defense" shield or on programs like the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) or "Star Wars" for you that don't know.

Don't worry I know where the $'s are and aren't going, and yes it's quite baffling .. but that's a whole different story.

You name floods, droughts , famine effects of Global warming right? Where do most of the floods happen? And why ? I can't see how Global warming caused sudden floods. If you would be so kind as to give me an example of a flood that was 100% brought on by it .. then please go ahead and I will stand corrected.

Droughts? Well, If global warming causes Flooding .... then why are we even talking about droughts?

A drought is an extended period of months or years when a region notes a deficiency in its water supply. Generally, this occurs when a region receives consistently below average precipitation. It can have a substantial impact on the ecosystem and agriculture of the affected region. Although droughts can persist for several years, even a short, intense drought can cause significant damage[1] and harm the local economy[2].

Ok I scanned 2 sites, nowhere does it mention global warming.

Now for Famine? oh P-LEASE.

Although most famines coincide with regional shortages of food, famine in some human populations has occurred amid plenty or on account of acts of economic or military policy that have deprived certain populations of sufficient food to ensure survival. Historically, famines have occurred because of drought, crop failure, pestilence, and man-made causes such as war or misguided economic policies

If you don't mind me saying, I think you are slightly shortsighted...
