Actually, a friend of mine sold a character for 3500$ back to the original owner after hacking him. Although he did have sosun bow and sosun jewlery.
I think this is a similar case.

I heard of a scam like this. You bid on your own stuff and look for a legit bidder who keeps trying to bid on your item or whatever. After you use a phony account to win the bid, you contact the legit bidder and say something like "The bid winner backed out, are you interested in this item?". And most the time you cut the price to like half of what the fake winning bid was.
So they send you money thinking they are getting a good deal...and they get owned.
