but after the 3rd page its just full of people posting there specs saying they have the same problem when its 78page thread i didnt fancy sifting though all that to find a possible answer so does anyone have a fix?, would help a lot.

I remember I used to have problems similar to that, might not be the same one because I don't recall the number, but it definately did have the same type of pop up and such: the problem was caused by not using nvidia's display drivers. I was using just default display drivers from windows.
Umm.. I got this error about a week ago and I just reinstalled my graphics drivers (ati/nvidia, whichever you need) and then reinstalled steam. Haven't gotten that error since. Hope that helps
p.s dont forget to make backups of your games if your reinstalling steam or youll have to dl them again
il try reinstalling and im gona look for update on graphic drivers but these are all mentioned in the thread above i said and people stil had the problem

css was out at same time as half life 2 (it is a half life 2 mod) so it must be 2004...

Steam is better than joymax they fix their problems ur problem is form ur computer not steam i think
1. Write down the error [ including all numbers ]
2. Close cs:s and steam
3. Restart steam
4. Start cs:s and check if the mem adresses are the same
5. If so start a mem test [ search google ]
6. If it aint reinstall Steam : cs:s
