I don't understand why you would have grinding at all. Why not just make it so everyone gets to pick out what ever build, skills, and gear they want right from the beginning? That makes a whole lot more sense then increased rates.

Plus you could then save huge amounts on file sizes ... for example, you wouldn't need the DW caves at all nor the Chinese ong area and much of the area around the black robber den. Most of the far east portion Takla Makan wouldn't be needed either ... who needs so many Niya Guards anyways? I am sure there are lots of other areas that could be similarly eliminated because they just wouldn't be needed.

I would have to wonder if private servers would ever get updates too ... like would you ever get the Islam portion of the map or ROC mountain? OR maybe Joymax gives away the free emulator just for the Chinese map ... and then charges 10000 USD each for Europe, Islam, and Roc Mountain. Steal the coding for the updates and get sued for copywrite infringement?

the emulator is updated with each update (that matters) which joymax makes. you dont steal the damn code from joymax, you make the whole thing from the ground up.

next, you cant take out those areas, since the client will not run (and they cant figure out how to get it to, so far) if the pk2 files are different sized th an they are supposed to be (so no severe pk2 editing for now)

furthermore;

what the hell, those areas dont even take up that much space. in fact, take out the whole jangan area of the river, take out constantinople, take out whole donwhang, and samarkand, and just leave hotan open for maybe running outside the gates and kill a monkey if you feel like it. and just give you a character? so you dont do anything? then why even play? increased xp rates is just so you dont have to spend 6-20 months or bot to get to 80, you can just grind for one or two weeks in your freetime.

Well just looking at most people's replies and how they would mostly use a private server to "test builds" I don't see the point of having even a week's worth of grinding. I didn't suggest taking out the towns because I am guessing that people might like trying a trade run now and then.

Plus if someone really wanted the experiance of grinding all they would have to do is to choose a lower level character at the start. But I am betting that no one would choose to do that.

Actually i'm playing a Rose Online private server which can carry about 1500-2000 players every server, there are 2 servers, and there is no lag and no freezes.

It's more crowded then the official servers

1. why would u test a build on a bot free server with events, only to play on the shitty official server.

look up a professional server company in your area. drive out to them. check out there servers. if your happy, buy some space. host your server there. thats what joymax does. that server will be able to host 3000 players easy. most companies will do data backups if you pay them. with the right plan, your server wont ever lag.

LOL u think its just test servers? I think no. If theres a gms that will ban bots i will stay private servers. Main thing is that i hate bots. Mostly here are botters they wanna test builds and go offical bot up. The thing for legit to be lvl 80 its impossible.

getting 2 80 legitly is not a myth or a lie, it is possible 2 hit that lvl in 5-7 months if you do your time properly.

a bot can 24/7 grind 2 80 in 2 months (with gt) (ask JackBaur on Persia)
it takes a legit 5 months of 3 - 4 hours playing with GT everyday to reach that same lvl. (ask __ on persia) then 3 weeks of sp farming = fully farmed (3 -4 hours a day)

also the new pt grind has cut that time it takes 2 lvl.
people who grind in good well run pts can reach 74 in 3 months, and be fully farmed (gt and sp tic)

and obviously you believe that lie (that getting 2 80 with handgrind is impossible) so you might as well start buying some tims

how 2 grind (solo chinese)
1]dont waste your time chatting
2]dont waste time with alchemy (3rd tier 8th deg only)
3]dont waste time jobbing
4]grind grind grind
5]who needs guilds wait till the cap (80) (duh job wars, only need the strong not the weak and stupid
6]PvP is for 8th deg sry, but thats fact
7]use a bow until lvl 30 for int

basically if you grind your 3-4 hours then log out, and enjoy life for the rest of the day, you can have your lvl 80, and enjoy your life 2.

3 hours out of 24 = 21 hours left correct?

max 8 hours of sleep correct?
21-8 =13 hours correct?

6 hour job or school (hypothetical)

13-6 = 7 correct?

that leaves 7 hours 2 do w/e you gotta do, correct?

now lets do weekends.

24 hours - 3 = 21

8 hour sleep
13 hours
0 hours working

leaves 13 hours of fun

so legits are not no-lifers who live in thier parents basement.
only an undedicated person wont reach 80 after at least a year.

taking 2 years 2 reach 80 means, you waste time when you play, doing pointless stuff, that should be saved for the endgame.

you log in, and instead of trying 2 lvl or setting a goal you pvp all day, then say omg its so hard 2 lvl up.
or you just decide not 2 play for 1 day, and go omgz lvling is hard
or you job all day.

only people who have nvr had gt at least once say the only way 2 lvl is by botting.

the only problem with sro is that the community sucks.

I was hardocre grinding all summer and im lvl 59. I took break when school started. Slowly moving to 60 and staling. I duno if its worth to try farm and be nolifer. Cuz at summeri feelt like nolifer. That grinds 5 hours a day and rest go get some fun. That just suck. Atleast 3x rates dam.

actually, using a bot on a private server can be completely blocked by the emulator. that will be one of the features it offers, from what they've said.

hmm, so with this much intrest i may seriously think about a hosting company because i know with this bad internet on campus i wouldn't stand a chance of a reliable server, how ever I will have to make a site for it, an idea i've had for a while with alot detail already planed out(i dion't care to say right here incase some one else has the better ability to carry it out at the moment, then i do .... me = broke), so maybe if i can get enough traffic and ads it'll help pay for the server, then again i don't know, it depends on how joymax takes to it, if they try to prosecute people how host them i don't want to be attached to a major private server. So, again we'll have to wait for the eumlator, but hey in the mean time if i can get a good chance it give me time to work on a game idea i've had, kinda like sro mixed with snes legend of mana gamestlye play. I have too damn many projects at once i never finish anything lol.
