From my own experience (played axe warrior, cleric, wiz and rogue all untill lvl20) : Rogue with xbow and daggers and Bard sub(Cleric would do also I think). I can easily take on on giants my own level (start with xbow, switch to daggers and use hp and vigor herbs). Bard I use for mana cycle and moving march.

XemnasXD:
Best Solo Builds are

1H-Sword/Bard

Xbow/Bard

XemnasXD, I thought you made a great guide, which seemed to recommend Rogue/Cleric....?
My only complaint about rogue is fighting Giants, so I thought Cleric would give me the HP/Def required to take them on.

Now you're saying Bard? How does that help kill giants?
Also, does Noise work on mobs +10 lvls? Especially since you need a skill gap to have two jobs.

By the way, I use Xbow... I hate canceling CE during a fight due to 50% HP.

Kind of... but when you have clerics and bards using nukes on non-aggro mobs, or the wizards/rogues run off and leave the group.... yah, I kinda gave up on the SRO party experience.

FFXI required parties. I mean, you couldn't survive mobs 1vs1 if that mob was even -3 lvls. (Maybe a Dark Knight or Red Mage could out-last a white mob) White and Orange mobs REQUIRED parties. Every mob in FFXI was like an SRO Party Champion.

In comparison, a Xbow rogue can kill mobs several levels above them. Supposedly other jobs can, too, so I would say SRO is still not party based.

Cleric is nice for defense and i'd prefer it in PvP and jobs but for solo grinding xbow/bard has range and can keep monsters at bay in aggro areas....Xbow/cleric is just as good but harder to use in aggro areas....

Crossbow with extreme bow can take + 12 lvl monster in 1 shot if crit or zerk ... in normal situations crossbow 1 shot -2 lvl monsters or may be the same lvl monster ( without crit ) ..

Wizard with life control will do little higher damge .. but he can't solo against gaint or gaint party .. he will die for sure ..

At the same time crossbow as a str build will take down the gaint party with no problem when he cancel the extreme bow ....

Rogue mastery made for solo .. read the few words JoyMax wrote about rogues in the official site and you will know that rogue is a solo build .. but the pots delay make them need sub mastery to perform better

Rogues, warriors, totally useless in solo play :)

Cleric, I can take everything on, I got massive defense and massive attack, I can EASILY kill giants my levels and superior levels, I don't EVER run away from anything.

And the previous post is total bull ;) Rogues were not meant for solo play anymore or any less than any other euro builds. They just suck at solo, just like most euro builds do, like clerics also. But, with clerics, nothing scares me out there, no need for a pathetic "scud" spell to slither out of the way of potential danger.

oh and lastly, I use bard noise and speed, so no agro problems at all.

Don't be noob man , rogue skills is for solo play and Joy Max said that ... read from the official site :

Don't be relieved that you dealt with something secretly. There's always someone in the dark who's targeting you."
Unlike warriors who take pride in competing fairly, there exist some forces in the world who stay under cover of darkness. They are called Rogues and are known for balancing the world by quietly terminating their opponents. They make surprise attacks from a long distance or use a poisoned dagger without being identified.

If you sense bolt attacks from a long distance or poison radiating from Rogues hiding in the dark, you wouldn't dare to approach their party. At first glance, skills of the Rogue class seem to work best when the class moves alone.
When those who've learned Rogue skills are accepted into a party, however, their versatility shines brightest.
