Convince me to stay a Warlock

Post by LightningCat »

Hi guys.
Well, I have a lvl 40 Warlock. The main reason I chose to make a Warlock is because they are very rare, and I thought I would like being unique.
Well, I was wrong.

I don't like the Warlocks damage. I envy every mage I see running past me.
I feel I want to change to Wizard. What I love about the Wizards is their AOE which is really awsome and so essential in parties. My guild is usually in dyer need for Wizard, while no one really wants a Warlock in their party.
My lvl 40 Warlock skills cost me 8000 SP, so if i delvl them all I only lose like 1.6K sp from the curst heart quest. But I dont want to find out at lvl 60 that a Warlock pawns and regrat my switch :S

Please tell me about the advantages of a Warlock. Get me to like it ;)
Anyone thinks I should stay Warlock?
Oh and I know that Warlock is th best euro in 1 vs. 1 PVP. But honestly all I care about right now is group fighting and PVE. I love killing in a group.

Thanks in advanc guys

I'd said go for full int and be warrior. >< :D Heres what I have to say the warlock is the only one who has the highest chance to kill me without having to run away first. And thats coming from a 2hs. Stun, and those DOT spells hurt. A wizard i can kill in one bash or maddening. You contribute to the killing as a warlock, cast DOT and debuffs on mobs something i see rarely.

Thanks for your comment.
As I mentioned, I don't really care about 1vs.1 PVP. I know that a well played Warlock can pawn in 1vs.1 but I care much more about group and group pve fighting.

In that case, my question for you is this:

How do you fare against party champions and party giants(if you've fought any.) My impression was that a warlock's DOT abilities would be very helpful in those situatuions.

+1 , i would like a warlock because with them, the party can kill party champions and giants FASTER, which means more earning EXP.

if u were in zeus, i'd add you :)

Useful for party giants

Yea I guess I do more dmg then i realize with all the DoTs. But still, ther eis no faster pary then a Bard,Cleric,Tank, and 5 Wizzys* AOEing the shit out of lots of Sosunsungs :P And a Warlock has no place in this kind of party

Dun wanna be bad, but only undestood 50% if the post ¬¬

But well, ur only work is to curse stronger mobs and then use ur magic skills, i think nothing more, because your curses bothers a lot.

If i understood, just get into a party with full share (item share/exp share) if the party members have SOX for kill.
And if a mob drops a SOX, just believe in your luck and the SOX can be yours hehe :) . But your 1st work is to curse stronger mobs.

Sry if i am wrong with the answer , didnt understood fine the post

I felt the same way, but look at it this way.
1v1 PVP: Usually locks win with a proper strategy, Stun, dot sleep, nuke, im in armor, i can take a couple hits from people my level and higher, by that time I either stun em again if they're not dead, or shieald thrash them. Also you can always always always stun a wiz before he nukes if you see him attacking you, since stun cast time is really low.

Group PVE: Well locks are like really helpful against stronger mobs, cause by the time a nuker nukes, you would have cast like 3 dots, with status effects and you can stun which saves people, also the razes help everyone do more damage, meaning you kill faster = more exp and the other razes lower the mobs attack power so less waste of pots.

Group PVP: Well you would help loads since if you're with a rogue as thieves, you can sleep a person, rogue bashes the transport, while you dot the shit out of the trade, stun stops, rogue switches to trader and finishes him off, then you continue on the horse. Same with hunting, you can dot, stun and sleep people, while your team finishes them off.

Also, there are lots of noob wizzys because they're like omgz0r I nuke for 50k, but they get killed before they actually are able to nuke.
You also have the advantage of a shield, if pimped and with a high blocking ratio, you got some awesome def right there.

Long rant oO Well, changed your mind yet? :)

It's a toss up:

Warlock - improves killing speed with DoTs and Raze line.
Wizard - improves killing speed with unadulterated sheer pure hell damage.

Question is, which do you prefer to play?

I don't think I would do cursed hearts to reset a character. You can get a new character to 30 very, very quickly (especially a wizard) with a little help. If you have very good friends with some levels on their bones, you can get a level 40 wizard in a couple of days. Same amount of time (or less) than grinding cursed hearts. In this manner if you end up not liking Wizard, you didn't screw the Warlock over.

Dont!, Euro is going to explode cause is almost made of wizards, lacks warlocks, and when Legend I have more time, will see than the warlock is a nice class as all euro class.
One more question, remember that is an EURO char, do you have some friends in the server which you are, isnt it?
If the friends are PRO, ha, better for you, you are in lvl 40, so go with your friends whch grind in karakoram, be quite carefull, curse party mobs and will see which easier is lvl up when you and they discover the "trick" of warlock.

I am Cleric, well, cleric is easier bcz all ppl only see the heal mode, the last thing that party members will think is in about to get weaker the mob.
So, just be patient, and grind with ur friends :)

Thing is my 40 is on Mercury, which opened lik 9 day ago. I'm one of the highest legits on server. Can't restart now. :P

Good point though I fear switching to Wiz and then not liking that either.

If being a leader in the legit pack is your thing you have two options at this point:

1. Stay Warlock
2. Wait on new server

If you start farming hearts and all that you will likely fall behind or at least allow others to catch up quicker.

Don't put to much in to being a lead leveller on a new server. Eventually some chinese botted guild will level up their buddies, and some will be Warlocks. They will lack the knowledge you earned from being legit.

By the time a Chinese Bots up to 80, and then power lvls a European, I will be probably be high enough.
I also have Cleric mastery pretty high so I ill be able to play as cleric when delvling lock skills? I still don't know Whitez makes some good points

Yes. Why? because you are the one that going to do DoT damage and lots of cursing rather than 1 simple nuke from wizard, which makes you different. Actually IMO warlocks are good at PvP in the sense they can vampire kiss gaining back hp and at the same times doing damage to mob, which are deadliest (in terms of survival) among the mages. So you can survive more longer in a party.
