S/s or hybrid spear?

I'm having a tough time deciding on which build I want. My friend keeps trying to persuade me to switch over to his build, s/s. He says that mana shield + shield is very good def, plus we have the pure int and good attack power of sword. However, hybrid spear would have more hp than a shield, plus the hp boost from heuksal tree. So in your opinion which is better?

go sword/shield if you have full sos or sun everything.
go spear if ur not that rich
