90% of the wizards in game don't use it. Those that do, its not maxed so its resisted most of the time. But like I said in a different topic, its really who has the fastest fingers. If a warlock manages to stun, the wizard is dead. If the wizard manages to in place fear, the warlock is dead.boast wrote:Wizards get fear, though.

on my warlock, pvm is hard. because the attack skill is only 214%. so i have to DoT, stun and blood flower, while wizards just fire nuke. when does warlock get good in pvm if ever? im in 2x btw. In party play, im usually aceapted into a party at red mobs, i just debuff, spam dots and stun. if a wizard is being chased by a party mob i sleep the party mob to give us running time. and sometimes, i can kill, a red mob myself. Im not sure how helpfull i am being. my dots and blood flower dont come close to the damage of the wizard, but my physical and medical raze adds 50ish damage to my party, and i die a lot because i'm always trying to save my team. are we supposed to be in parties or are we better off solo? I usually pvp with the 3xs. with a 3x warlock, its whoever stuns first, which gets broing sometimes. though i am able to kill a 3x warrior if he is already half hp lol. now i am trying to decide to stay with my warlock or switch to a ice sword. i can frostbite and freeze for my party and still do ok in pvp. which one should i choose lol

Casting rate (ie. frame animation) for Warlock/Cleric is faster than Wizards...
Both cast at same time...and assume there's no resists then Warlock should get their spell in.

What level mobs did you try soloing? Yea, wizards are more useful in a PvM party than a Warlock.criticalss wrote:Da_Realest wrote:90% of the wizards in game don't use it. ??????
There was another post stating the exact opposite. Their argument was that any additional damage caused by your debuffs could count as the Warlock's damage contribution. That in addition to the stuns, sleeps, and reduced atk from the mob can all make a warlock very beneficial to a party.
However, I would also agree that any party only needs one warlock, where as multiple wizards can be included.

If you're party grinding and you got a wizard with life control in the party, the debuffs are pretty useless. From my experience in party grinding orange mobs, I only had time to get off maybe 2 skills with my warlock before the mob was dead. Sometimes I barely got off one attack. Wizards kill so fast that the effect of your debuffs are overlooked. Not to mention there is a chance that they could be resisted while a wizard is consistently useful. The only time I'm really useful is on a party giant. But thats just my experience....Atsuten wrote:What level mobs did you try soloing? Yea, wizards are more useful in a PvM party than a Warlock.

I think a wizard is more helpful in a PvM party and a warlock is more helpful in a PvP party.

For parties you change it up.
You cast scream mask on the users taking the most dmg or your support chars who need protection.
On general mobs you use your basic attacks (Nukes).
When fighting champs.giants use debuffs + nukes + the traps (But mainly debuffs if you have enough users dealing dmg)
In pvp you use scream mask on the members keeping you and ur team alive.
Debuff the str players and take them down fast. Sleep/dot kill int users and Stun nuke str players.
This is an early strategy for a warlock, most warlocks i see attack me just stun then dot hell (skipping debuffs...).
good luck young undead worshippers
p.s. my Warlock is now 60 ^^.

I really like Warlocks, but in most games they get screwed over for balancing reasons, thank God silkroad is more versatile.
I would go Cleric sub if anything - to switch to the healer and pure resist to status effects would be very useful and increase ur survival rate.
Plus you would be too useful in a party.

my question is:
after casting debuffs and Dots, do they retain their potency even if you switch to a different weapon?
the reason i'm asking is, i love playing solo all the time, i am thinking of getting warlock as my sub-class for faster exp gain on PVM.
thanks in advance.

If the skill is high enough it negates the debuffs. Not the dot attacks though.Nenhunter wrote:don't a cleric's holy word buff just negates all the dot's basically? so against someone who has that casted on them, warlocks are basically useless.

A warlock vs. a cleric is tough (I know i died).
You can only kill them one way or of course hope ur sub class (If you have one) can beat them.
I usually go -
Stun - debuff, trap, flower - shadow armor + reflect - stun repeat.
their resist is tough so trying anything else more then once will get u killed, and beware of there 100k dmg skill.
Warlock/Cleric is good because clerics are a warlocks worst enemy or best friend.
Clerics buffs fade when u transfer, so you would have to go warlock only for delayed skills then switch to cleric to finish em off.
Cleric would be main and warlock sub, even though warlock is stronger, cleric is more useful all around.
