Pesty Trojan...

Post by Dystopia »

Well, ive had this trojan for a while now and it just wont go away, the only thing thats keeping my computer alive right now is that the program (st.exe) dosent respond much and is very unstable, I believe its a keylogger called "Perfect Keylogger" or something I know because I recognize the icon (http://www.filesland.com/companies/Blaz ... -19714.jpg)
Thats how it looks like, but not so distorted, the thing is my anti-virus cant spot it, its not on the tray, not in the control panel, and not in the Program list, its completely invisible, I was lucky enough to spot it, anyways its really annoying and I cant get it off anyone have ANY idea?

Can this help you in anyway?

http://www.google.ca/search?q=st.exe&ie ... =firefox-a

or

http://www.spywareguide.com/product_show.php?id=588

Surprisingly i got a couple of hits when i searched st.exe on my computer

Have you tried different antivirus software? One i have heard very good things about from others, and decided to give it a go myself, was Kaspersky. You can download a free 30 day trial from their website. It has found stuff that other popular AV's have not.

Reformatting fixes anything, just back up your important files.

Any idea on how you got it?

Nothing beats a good ol' reformat.

What I do is use the program called DeepFreeze from faronics.com. Any changes to my computer C: drive is eradicated automatically to the way it was every time I reboot my computer. Just make sure you have two hard drives (or two partitions)... one for your C drive and the other to save your downloads and configuration/bookmarks/download folders/etc. That way you will never have to reformat or defragment your hard drive. If you need to make a permanent change to your C drive, just unfreeze your computer. :P

stuff on the harddisk that shouldnt be there. always works fine for me :)
