Well, a simple moderator button is really easy to make. I can make them look gel-like, sparkly, and rainbow =), I can animate them multiple colors 2. However, I think a more oriental-flavored one with a design scheme would look better... like featuring Chinese dragons and fans!
An idea would be, to use in game monsters for various tags. One game forum had some weak monster for new users, slightly stronger monster for regular users, mods had a very strong monster, and admins had the strongest in the game as theirs. Mind you, it wasn't the entire monster in the picture, just a part of it, usually the face. I'm no good at this kind of thing, so some suggestions. Mangyang for new users, the face showing the tag on it or w/e it is. Earth ghost for regular users. Ishade for elite users might work. Something from taklamakan or the cave for mods. Last, for admins, whatever is the strongest unique currently known I'd say. Or, could uniques for each of them, tiger girl for newbies, ureuchi for regs, isy for elite, yarkun? for mods, and saytan for admins maybe. Saytan and yarkun might have to be switched around, I forget.
Just some ideas to help people get started.
Quoted from BuDo (Except I Am Vegeta cuz we all know he is a used tampon when it comes to his personality)
can you make it so that it would show more than one server flag at once? i would really like that because i play on both xian and oasis and i would like to show my pride for both

When we update versions, we always lose all custom edits.
do you lose custom edits even if you change/add .gifs my idea was just to add more gifs in addition to the normal flags, i dont think you have to update the software to do that ....
that would probably wrok aya... but then i guess anyone could type in "moderator" or whatever for thier location and they would have the logo as well? unless the keyword used was some random gibberish, like "MODSB1979" or something like that?
personally, i think that something in the way of the first example on ryoko's post would be most appropriate. something with MINIMAL height and very classy-looking, preferrably something that matched the overall color cheme of the site.
30 secs w/ photoshop. i think this type of thing is more appropriate.

well...you have to get the uber keyword to become moderator from Kyoko
and than there shouldn't be any problems

How about a set of several weapon types? You could pick which you want to use and your "user level" would be represented by your weapon level.
Name could be written on the handle/blade and mods/admins could get SoS weapons while the rest of us get normal ones. Maybe even animate them and give "Site helpers "(AKA people who add content to the site and add to the forum like me as an example) get +3 weapons.
That way it's related to SRO, something intresting and fun.
Heheheh, I know this is probably too tall in proportion for what you want, Ryoko, but I spent an hour dicking around with it so I might as well post it. As I have said before, I have no good fonts so this is stock and boring font. But still, you get the idea. If anyone with real skill wants to run with this concept it's easily enough reproduced from the pics on the official site.

The program only comes with a few dozen fonts, and they all pretty much look the same. Good fonts are cool and readable and definitely not stock - like the Silkroad logo font at the top of this forum. Stock fonts are raggedy in large sizes and absolutely flat and monochromatic. A good font in my opinion doesn't look like it's been typed; it looks like it's been drawn, painted, stamped, engraved, or hammered into shape.
EDIT: Of course, I'm talking about fonts for a logo or title graphic, not something to write a full sentence with.
