I am currently planning to go full blown cleric to be able to easily buy all the cleric skills without much farming. But Ive done a bit of thinking and I am wondering which of these would be best for cleric submastery...
Warrior: Really just for the Heavy Armor. I expect you would get targeted a lot in PvP so Im opting for any protection I can get.
Rogue: Same deal, but instead of trying to soak more damage I plan to evade it with stealth+speed buffs.
Bard: Extra support for where the cleric lacks.
Wizard and Warlock seem like poor choices because you are focusing on your party members and yourself, not the mobs.
Which do you think is best and why?
Cleric sub-mastery?
I don't know if its the best choice, but I went with bard to become - using your line - a full blown buffer.
My reasoning behind that:
- Secondary would need to be a class that requires you to be either full int or int-hybrid
- There are so many offensive casters out there that it's not even funny
- With another primary cleric in the party, I can switch to bard later on in the game and keep the damage dealers going
- The attacks remind me of the Quake II railgun
Concerning your alternative choices:
- Warrior: I think light armor gives you a good inbetween for both types of damage, so not really necessary
- Rogue: Evading damage using the mentioned rogue skills can work, but not in too many situations. First you'd have to switch to daggers to use them both, which is time consuming. Secondly the use of at least the basic stealth skill is very limited. You won't be able to use them in battle and sometimes it seemed, that I couldn't even get them to work when monsters are close but not targeting me.
- Wizzard and Warlock: Can work out in combination with cleric if the healing capability of this skill:
*edit*
Wrong skill I guess, but there is one with a 25m range around you, that keeps healing your party members constantly
*edit*
is enough. I met two cleric/wizzards on cSRO and buffing themselves with that skill and switching to wizzard seemed to work.
Since you seem to spend some time planning you character and seem to have some experience, considering you post in that other cleric thread, do you have any thoughts on going hybrid with a cleric?

I cant really draw much inspiration from your wizard comment, as that to me seems a good combo for a wizard primary, not cleric primary.
Yes, I am going hybrid. Spending 1 point on Str every two levels (thinking about spending more). My reasoning behind this is that the party will get wiped easily in PvP if the cleric is killed in one hit. Im trying to avoid this scenario in whichever way I can, but I think it will just eventually come down to what I call "heal and run" tactics which are employed in games like Guild Wars.

I thought about something like a 2:1 ratio myself. With a full int cleric I only ran low on mana when I had to constantly heal and ressurect with a 30 sec pot delay. Seeing that the lower damage will not be so much of an issue for this class, that might be the way to go, in order to withstand a conflict involving other players.

You can't cast any cleric spells without holding a cleric rod. A good portion of buffs will disappear (I'm sure about the +int. and + str. buffs, not sure about the shorter lasting against curses) if you switch to sword.
