Fire is OK for lower levels, dont delevel light. At higher levels, ligtning/ice is a far better choice for pure int. Just look at the buffs. Light buffs are all made for ints. Now look at fire's. All are made for str. Light is an overall better choice in the long run.
btw Fire's nuke isnt REALLY stronger.

(as an int) I personally wouldnt use fire as a primary force, no. There are some useful things in it if you are S/S, but if you are spear/pure int it's kinda useless. Light has far more benefits. THe lightning status effect lowers parry ratio quite a bit, which raises the dmg of the nukes and imbues. Fire on paper appears stronger, but in fact, the light imbue can hit harder. Combined with a spear's AOE attacks... you get the picture. imho, fire has far less long term benefit. If you want to SP farm a lot, Id say go for them both, but if you had to pick, go light.

All really what you prefer.
But thinking of 90 maybe higher cap builds with same 300 mastery.
INT will want light maxed and a weapon tree.
STR will want fire maxed and a weapon tree.
Cold can be a toss up. It seems to lean more towards INT builds since they need the phys defense plus the new mana shield will help them alot.
4 masteries was more 80/70/60 cap you will want 3 at 90 to be more effective.
Keeping fire and light for int would in a way be a bit more dmg while having light and ice is more defense but still dishing out nice dmg. IMO Light/Ice/Weapon for a INT would be a lot more fun and strong. And hopefully they're taking out fire shield when you unequipped so not as much immunity. Frost Nova ftw
BTW, unless they change the percents. From the people who checked around in the pk2 files for the 120 cap skills. Light stays 300% fire drops 285% or around there but last one goes back up to 315%.

If you cant kill what you are trying to kill with 2 light nukes and a shout, then you need to redo your build or fight elsewhere. lol I made a high level light nuker and at first I used fire till I figured out light was better. I eventually deleveled all of fire because I never used it, the light nuke and shout were faster and more effective at leveling.

I dont want to straight out give you a definitive answer to that. If you have both, use 1 for an hour, then the other and see which one YOU think is more effective. All I can tell you is what I have experienced and what my opinion is.

I personally prefer to use fire. The main reason being that the transfers from the lightning attacks tend to bring me more trouble than I need.
That being said, I wouldn't de-level lightning. Lion's Shout is a decent attack, you will need the speed boost, and the increase in magical damage is also helpful.

I used to have book 2 of fire imbue maxed, de-lvled it and got book 2 light maxed and the difference is very little, and like nightbloom said, light is an overall better tree for nukers, even if the fire imbue is slightly stronger it's not worth leveling the entire tree for.

Or think of it this way besides the fact it will take ages to level >.>
120 cap 140 w/e....You won't have enough to max 3 skills at 140. End run a int would want Light maxed. For all the buffs ect... But if you went max fire then it's a discussion on weather to only nuke with lets say light and fire at 140, which leaves a weapon at 20....so no good unless all you prefer is nukeing. What's left is spreading out the trees. But having Maxed fire won't really benefit since you would be lacking in the light tree and maybe they'll have a few % buffs/speed/parry that can change the dmg given/taken making fire weaker than light.
Of course it's all opinion and unreal longterm playing to reach that.
If you plan on keeping lightning and fire maxed I would say fire imbue.
I myself would drop fire and go with light imbue with ice for defense.
It's really not that big of a damage difference between the two. Comes down to how much blues/+/sos gears you have anyways

that won't be so selfeplanatory after the update comes with mana shield and some might wanna plan on 90 cap so they wont have to delvl a whole mastery tree

yea stay light. So many nukers are punching themselves in the face because they are light/fire. Now that mana shield is coming out alot of people are dropping fire for light as main(the light buffs are a must have), and ice for buffs.
Im so glad i stayed with only hueskal/light until 7X or i would be in the same position
