Actual solution to botting

Post by Rainigul »

You know how every time the sro client is updated bots don't work anymore?

Sro could simply make it so that they update the game (it doesn't even have to be an update, just make the files different... Y'know? Hopefully you do) every week or so. That way bots wouldn't work.

They could update it every day, but if youd idn't play for a long time, it could take a long time to update the client.

It's be easy to detect botters but Joymax intentionally let the botters bot until there's a huge update like the Euro or the 80 cap or the future 90 cap. They can just add a line of code that generate a checksum of the client and send it to the server to verify the client. It's not hard to get rid of bots, but Joymax <3 money

i can't say how easy or difficult to detect ... but for 1yr and this is all they have to show ... that speaks volume as far as i'm concerned.

And where should they put this line of code. Because its client sided it has to be in the Client.exe. But hey, people use softmods. So that would help.

JM would run more efficiently actually...less bots means you need less servers...meaning lower costs...what the bots did, especially the goldbots, was artificially inflate the number of players forcing JM to create more servers which get again crowded by gold bots making them create more servers etc. further increasing the monetary costs for JM...

Also I've suggested daily client updates in the past...

ODIN BOT UNIONS Image*More will be added as they appear or change*

Suggestions to fix iSRO:
-Gold wipe
-Daily Bot bans
-Make SoX items acquirable only with Honor Points

It wouldn't be difficult for them to stop bots but like many have said, JM loves it's money.

Its a business, what do you expect? they have no moral or ethical obligation to anyone but their share-holders, who also love money...

The fact is, the botting and gold buying violates the ToS, and personally I think that, if JM said that botting and gold buying was ok upfront, they would have very very very few players...

yea, but if they wanted to make money then they should have just made it p2p. Instead of making a good game with shitty service.

more a lot more:

-half of the right loged in stalers/job/etc
-if the server is full many bots can't enter

roughly 80%
