Horrible FPS...

Post by PB_and_J »

Sro has been running very slowly, or choppy for me the past while, I'm only getting 5 or so FPS.

Operating System: Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2
System Manufacturer: INTEL_
Processor: Intel Pentium D CPU 3.40GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1006MB RAM
Page File: 714MB used, 1708MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
GFX Card name: Intel(R) G965 Express Chipset Family (128 mb)

I'm hoping this is enough to run sro smoothly, is it? If it is fast enoguh, any ideas what could be causing the low fps?

Onboard right? Even with the processors with that its going to slow you down.

And one thing thats lowers the FPS very badly even if you have the latest gear is the shadows. Turn them off if you havent! And you should buy a new graphic card.

For furture reference when buyin a gfx card is to get the 512mb or 256mb in it...that will make fps fly wit the kind of ram u got =) i have 256 its ight, i just have bad processor =(. Just make sure when buying you get right one, like PCI express are best, but make sure your mommaboard can support it.

Why the hell did you buy a computer with TWO PENTIUM Ds and AN ONBOARD GRAPHICS CARD?! :banghead:

Wrong. RAM has little to do with performance, it's really common for manufacturers to just put extra RAM on a card to make it seem better than it is, even if it's not using that. If you buy a graphics card now, and you want it to last, get an 8400 GeForce or better. Obviously, 8800 Elite is best, then 8800GTX, then 8800GTS, then lower numbers. RAM has nowhere near the effect manufacturers would have you believe.
