Short Answer: Linux doesn't. WINE does. That said, it runs damn fine for a k-mmo on WINE. MastaChiefX is just plain wrong

like feba said, it works in WINE which is basically a 'ghost' of windows for linux users.

though some linux distro's have trouble running it.

i'm not entirely sure, not a linux user.

Death2U, ReactOS is not linux. It is a reverse engineered version of Windows. That's like someone asking for an Xbox, and giving them a PSP. A PSP which is still in early early alpha testing thta isn't really stable enough to even use.

Why the hell would you want to? Again, the OS itself isn't even stable yet. Running Ubuntu with WINE on it would work much better than reactOS. Why in the world would you even suggest ReactOS, anyway?

There's a reason it's less traveled. It's because it doesn't really offer any advantages. The view is crap, AND it's a longer trip.

Anyone know of a place I can dowload a mac computer compatible version of Linux. I want to play SRO on my Mac. *Hates windows*

Degrees, that doesn't really help us. What kind of Mac do you have? If it's the older kind, you need to download a PPC distro, if it's a newer (intel) version, the normal versions should look fine.

If you need a PPC distro, they're kinda a dying breed, but you could get Ubuntu 6.06 (I think support for PPC ended with 6.10)

Alternatively, you can use the advanced search on distrowatch.com, and compare it to the distro's wikipedia info and website, try to decide for yourself

Mac Mini G4 according to the bottom of my computer.

EDIT: I have found a PPC Distro that looks good. It is from Gentoo.

Then yes. I believe Gentoo is supposed to be one of the more customizable distros (read: not as user friendly), although I'm not an expert on the subject, I'd recommend a Debian variant of some kind

sro CAN run on linux. There was a very long thread about it a while ago on SRF and many users including myself got it to work. It's true that you need WINE. The FPS of sro running under linux is generally much lower, and the text and graphics might be really screwed up, but it's playable.

Just for your info there are some distros of Linux that can't do it.
I have Cedega and Wine both installed on a Suse 10 Enterprise OS and it can't run.

The client launches (after about 3 minutes) but hangs when the game guard thingy comes up. Wine and Cedega both have dramas with the Game Guard side of things, couple that with Suse and no joy...........

I did'nt spend hours and hours messing around so there may be a way to get it running on Suse, but if you really hate Windows that much then maybe you should just have a dual boot system and boot Windows when you want to play Sro, or better yet use one of the cut down versions of windows you can get out there, google TinyXP if you are interested.

Have you tried updating WINE? 9.41 came out recently, works great on Ubuntu.

Anyway, if you hate Windows, but you use it anyway, that doesn't really mean shit then does it? :banghead:

If a certain distro of linux can't use SRO Use, or at least dual boot one of the distros that does. There's no reason to switch to Windows.

If you have a playstation 3, you can also run SRO on in using YellowDog linux and the built-in WiFi-G network. PS3 has a very powerful Cell processor

That sounds neat, although Cell is waaaay overhyped. Cell won't do you a bit of good for gaming tbh. How much FPS does it get on max settings?
