Worth getting Strike n' smash book?

Post by paths »

I am a lvl 28 bicheon/fire/ice/lightning build.
I am probably gonna max all the books in bicheon and didn't know if I should max the strike n' smash book.
Is it worth getting all 3 books of it?

if you are STR, then put some points into it. It's a low MP consuming move, which can be very useful during the grind.
If you are INT, you grind with nukes. No need for smashing.
Carry your cross, and I'll carry mine.

Are you a Blader? I am, and personally, I have it maxed out. It's a quick attack, with a very low MP consumption, like Stress said, and often, out on the grind, monsters are left with a tiny bit of HP - just enough for a quick Crosswise Smash to finish it off.

However, it's not completely NECESSARY. I know many Bladers that have completely skipped it, but they always go back when they're capped and farming to get it. Overall, get it eventually, but don't make it a priority.

Thanks for the replies. :)
Is maxing all the bicheon skills a good idea? Cause the guides pretty much say to do so.

definitely not a priority. you can grind effectively without it (forget about it in pvp). some bladers get it for fun later on, sort of like how glaivers get poledance (spirit crash). it'll be interesting to see how strong 4th book is, though.

I think that having the second series might be enough? Not sure, though, how much more damage does it do to a normal attack?

No. Having the second series will not be enough. That's like you using Illusion Chain when you're L80, because you think that Heaven Chain isn't necessary. You either get it all, or you don't get it at all. By the time you're L80, the damage of your normal attack may even surpass that of the second book. So if you plan on using it, make sure that you farm enough SP to get it all.
Not exactly sure what your second question means. If I interpret it correctly, you're asking how much more it does than a normal attack.
For me, I do about 500 a swipe on PEGs. Times two, because there are two swipes, equals about 1000 damage. With Crosswise Smash, I'm hitting about 1100 per swipe, and since Crosswise is the 3rd book, there are two swipes, giving a total of around 2200 damage. So yes, it's quite alot more effective than a normal attack - and good for such a low MP usage.

I forgot to mention that I am pure str lvl 28.
So should my character's skills end up looking like this?:

http://bobtheveg.dyndns.org/SRO/Char_Bu ... file=33858

I added 1 point into the thunderbolt series as an additional AOE move.
This is just for when I reach lvl 70.
Didn't know if I should raise lightning to 70 because I already had a great bonus in moving speed and the concentration was already high. And piercing force is only 1% more.
