Okay, here is the scoop, I finally got my firewall configured to allow me to login when I want to, here is what I did:
(keep in mind I use Zone Alarm, but should work with most firewalls)

Find the section regarding privacy for the site (in this case CHOOSE ONLY http://www.silkroadonline.net) - for zone alarm it is in the PRIVACY section in the site list, right click, site options)

In cookies tab:
make sure session cookies, 3rd party cookies, private header info are all unchecked.

In ad blocking tab:
make sure ads are NOT blocked, the pop ups seem to be part of what allow their site to allow user identity to work. (Yes, not sure why they can't work like everyone elses sites)

Mobile Code:
make sure any java, vbscript, activeX or mime codes are enabled.


Now we all know that the securtiy settings have been greatly reduced now for access to this site! I am not sure what the need or reasoning behind this is, but make sure you are doing more frequent virus, and adware scans than normal, it would probably be a good idea to run them when you are done running the game or visiting the main site.

I hope these settings are not done on purpose to gather info about us users, but it is a FREE game afterall, and as they say, there is nothing that is free.

That being said, I hope this helps a lot of you having problems out, I hope to see some of you in-game.

Myself, I haven't even decided what server I would like to play on yet.

Then I suggest playing a different game. Really it will save you a lot of trouble in the long run. I mean, even people who love this game at first start to hate it after playing a while. If you start off hating it, by the time you're level 20 you might stab someone.

so true lol, and i find this game is very hateable (i know i probably spelled that wrong XD) if you dont have a fun guild.

If you want a serious fix, and are willing to do this...

Follow these steps:

Start -> Run -> 'services.msc'
Look for DHCP CLIENT and make sure it is set to AUTOMATIC and it is STARTED
If it isn't the former, then Right click DHCP CLIENT, select properties, and set it to AUTOMATIC, then START it; Close services
Start -> Run -> 'msconfig'
Navigate to the BOOT.INI tab
Select /SAFEBOOT and check MINIMAL
Save and Exit; Restart
Start -> Run -> Control Panel -> Network Connections
Right click and disable your ETHERNET (Local area connection) not your 1394
Unplug your modem; Wait 10-15 seconds.
Plug your modem back in
Enable your ETHERNET and let the connection resume
Start -> Run -> 'cmd'
Once at the command prompt type the following:
ipconfig /renew
After your connection resolves, close the command prompt, and remian in Safe Mode
Open Internet Explorer (6 or 7, nothing less, and no Mozilla/Opera/etc)
Navigate to the SRO International site and create your account
Once your account has been created close IE
Start -> Run -> 'msconfig'
Navigate to BOOT.INI and de-select /SAFEBOOT
Save, Exit, Restart

Enjoy!

Can someone help me too? Im having a problem on registration about IP eventhough I have not created any account yet. I tried proxies and its already my 3rd day of registration to no avail. I even turned off my firewall and its still the same.

So I decided to contact anybody willing to create an account for me.
